アダム・スミス 「国富論」刊行 (1776年3月9日)

アダム・スミス Adam Smith  (1723年-1790年）著 「国富論」An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations  刊行 (1776年3月9日)

「神の見えざる手」(invisible hand) というフレーズ (第4篇2章) が有名で
それが一人歩きして「自由放任主義」の肯定の場でも引用されてきたものの、
本書は (「自然な発展」に、言わば本質的な考え方として、価値を置く観点ゆえに)、
むしろ (当時で言うところでは)「重商主義」の理論に対しては批判的だと言われます。

これも岩波文庫で、いまさらながら読み始めている段階なので、
途中までの印象と聞きかじりからのコメントですが。
