A Heartwarming Letter from Polandポーランドからの心温まる手紙
I’m truly delighted to have had the opportunity to exchange Christmas cards and letters twice with our friends in Poland.
ポーランドの友人たちと2回にわたりクリスマスカードや手紙を交換する機会を持てたことを、本当に嬉しく思います。
I initiated this card exchange to show my students that English is a tool for communication.
生徒たちに英語がコミュニケーションのツールであることを示すために、このカード交換を始めました。
It all began with a Christmas card exchange with a Czech teacher I met at BLC in the UK.
すべては、イギリスのBLCで出会ったチェコの先生とのクリスマスカード交換から始まりました。
Encouraged by that experience, I reached out to a Polish teacher I studied CLIL with.
その経験に励まされ、CLILを一緒に学んだポーランドの先生に連絡を取りました。
Although she teaches kindergarten, she kindly introduced me to a junior high school teacher, and our exchange expanded from there.
彼女は幼稚園の先生ですが、中学校の先生を紹介してくれ、そこから交流が広がりました。
I’m overjoyed that these connections with teachers in the Czech Republic and Poland have grown in such a meaningful way.
チェコ共和国やポーランドの先生方とのつながりが、このように有意義に広がったことをとても嬉しく思います。
My students were fascinated to receive letters written in English addressed to them personally.
生徒たちは、自分宛てに英語で書かれた手紙を受け取り、興味津々でした。
They pondered what to draw, added origami, and decorated with stickers.
何を描こうか考え、折り紙を入れたり、シールで飾ったりしました。
Watching them diligently think and write in English was truly moving.
彼らが一生懸命英語で考え、書く姿は本当に感動的でした。
One girl even said, “Writing in English is fun!”
ある女の子は、「英語で書くのが楽しい！」と言っていました。
She’s always been a serious student, but it was the first time I saw her genuinely enjoying herself.
彼女はいつも真面目な生徒ですが、楽しそうにしている姿を初めて見ました。
Indeed, having fun is the source of all motivation.
確かに、楽しむことはすべてのモチベーションの源です。
I hope this experience sparks a deeper interest in English for them.
この経験が、彼らの英語への興味をさらに深めるきっかけになればと思います。
Despite the current complexities of the world, I wish for my students to one day travel abroad and experience diverse cultures.
現在の世界の複雑さにもかかわらず、生徒たちがいつか海外に行き、多様な文化を体験することを願っています。
I hope this initiative serves as a small stepping stone for them to reflect on what makes Japan special and how they want to live in this world.
この取り組みが、日本の良さや自分がこの世界でどのように生きていきたいかを考える小さなきっかけになれば嬉しいです。
But perhaps, I’m the one most excited about this card exchange.
しかし、もしかすると、このカード交換に一番ワクワクしているのは私かもしれません。
