About me and what I'mma do

〈Introduction〉

Many people may perceive developmental disabilities as something negative or as a flaw.

Not limited to developmental disabilities, I deeply understand the feelings of those who believe they have no value or are tormented by suicidal thoughts.

Precisely because I have experienced these feelings myself,

I want to give my all to share the things that only someone like me can convey—

such as what I was able to accomplish and how I was able to help others by interpreting developmental disabilities in a positive light.

I want to fully commit to "communicating what only I can communicate."

When we overcome negative assumptions and take that first step—"Just try it"—

and when we give it our wholehearted effort,

I truly believe we can start to change something.

I have experienced this firsthand.

And I wholeheartedly believe in your potential and your power.

No matter what reality you are living in right now,

I believe a path will surely open up for you.

There are surely things that only you can do.

I hope to assist you in discovering your own potential and power.

〈About Me〉

Nice to meet you. Allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Nobuhisa Mizuno.

At the time of writing this book, I am 29 years old.

I was born and raised in Moriyama Ward, Nagoya City,

and I live happily every day with my family and our cat, Nyanpoke.

I am someone who loves watching sunsets, playing games,

and spending time with my family and friends more than anything else.

Since I was a child, I was often teased for being "weird" or "different."

I had strong fixations, was restless, and when eating ramen,

I would wonder if there was some hidden pattern to the way the noodles curled.

I was a child who struggled to connect with others in conversation.

Because of my difficulty with communication,

I have unfortunately broken off engagements four times by this age—

a rather infamous record.

Later, in my twenties, I was diagnosed with developmental disabilities,

and I finally understood the cause behind many of my struggles.

I was overwhelmed by feelings of unhappiness and thought about ending my life.

However, through exposure to various information and life experiences,

I came to learn that "happiness is something we can choose,"

and I was able to change.

In this book, I will share how I was able to change

and how you, too, can choose happiness.

— Happiness Can Be Created Through Skills —

I will introduce you to Choice Theory Psychology, goal achievement techniques,

and some techniques I personally came up with that enabled me to change.
