【IELTSスピーキング】例題18-21（テーマ：家族）

本日も勉強頑張っていきましょう。今回は頻出の家族テーマで記載いたします。IELTSスピーキングPart2の特徴であるDescribe形式になりますので、4題纏めて解いていきましょう。
例題18 Describe your family. Who you visited and where they lived?
回答例
I visited my parents, who have been living in a small town in the countryside for many years. It’s the place where my father grew up, and our family has had a home there for generations.
日本語訳:
私は祖父母を訪ねました。彼らは長年、田舎の小さな町に住んでいます。そこは父が育った場所で、私たち家族は何世代にもわたってその地に家を持っています。
ポイントとなる語彙や表現
・my parents, who →関係代名詞で表現力をアピール
・have been living（現在完了進行形）→ 長期間の継続を自然に表現
・for generations → 家族の歴史を示す語彙が深みを出す
例題19 Why you made this visit?
回答例
I made the visit because I hadn’t seen them for a while, and I really missed spending time with them.
Also, I wanted to learn more about my family’s background and traditions, which they often share through stories.
日本語訳:
しばらく会っていなかったので、彼らに会いたくて訪ねました。祖父母と一緒に過ごす時間が恋しかったのです。それに、家族の歴史や伝統についてもっと知りたいと思っていました。祖父母はよく昔話を通してそうしたことを教えてくれるんです。
ポイントとなる語彙や表現
・I made the visit→I visitedよりもネイティブっぽいです。
・I hadn’t seen them for a while→家族ネタでは鉄板の表現
・I really missed… → 感情表現が自然で、バンドスコア向き
・family’s background and traditions → 話の深みを出す語彙
例題20 What happend during this visit?
回答例
During the visit, we had long conversations over tea, went for walks around the neighborhood, and looked through old photo albums.
My grandmother also taught me how to cook a traditional dish that has been passed down in our family.
日本語訳:
訪問中は、お茶を飲みながらゆっくり話したり、近所を散歩したり、古いアルバムを一緒に見たりしました。祖母は、家族に代々伝わってきた伝統的な料理の作り方も教えてくれました。
ポイントとなる語彙や表現
・今回のような経験を聞かれている場合には、ダラダラ回答がおすすめです。

今回のようにダラダラ回答する練習もしてみましょう。

・passed down in our family → 伝統の継承を表す自然な表現
例題21 Explain what you enjoyed about this visit?
回答例
What I enjoyed most was the sense of peace and connection.
Being with my grandparents in a familiar place gave me comfort, and hearing their stories helped me feel more connected to my roots.
Especially in our busy lives, it reminded me how important family is,
日本語訳:
一番楽しかったのは、安心感とつながりを感じられたことです。祖父母と、なじみのある場所で一緒に過ごすことが、とても心地よかったです。昔の話を聞くことで、自分のルーツをより強く意識できました。この訪問は、忙しい日々の中で家族の大切さを改めて思い出させてくれました。
ポイントとなる語彙や表現
・What I enjoyed most was...
名詞節を上手に使いこなし、考える時間を作りましょう。立派なIELTSテクニックの1つです。
・sense of peace and connection
“a sense of ~“ は抽象的な感情を丁寧に表す上級フレーズ。
“peace”（安心、安らぎ）＋ “connection”（人とのつながり）は、家庭的・感情的な価値観を大切にする視点を示し、試験官に強い印象を与えます。
・Being with my grandparents in a familiar place
日本人はBeingから始まる文章はあまり得意としていません。是非この表現を自分のものにしましょう。
・Especially in our busy lives
「忙しい日々の中で」という表現は様々な場面で役立つ表現です。
・it reminded me how important family is
『抽象的締めの一文』を加えることで、内容が一段深く感じさせる効果があります！！
例）Remind、Realizeなど
“It made me realize that our past plays a big role in shaping who we are.”
「私たちの過去が、今の自分を形づくるうえで大きな役割を果たしているのだと気づかされました。」
◽️今回例題のような実際の出題例
家族をテーマとした問題には、例えば以下のような例題もあります。
Describe a visit you made to a relative’s home.
- Who they were
- Where they lived
- What you did there
- And explain how you felt about the visit
Describe a time you spent with a family member.
- Who the person is
- When you spent time with them
- What you did
- And explain why you enjoyed it
個人的な経験に基づいて話せるタイプの問題は頻出ですし、日本人受験者にも話しやすいカテゴリです。徹底的に練習繰り返していきましょう。
