小説『架空の坂道』第4章　後編

・サクラサク

　今週も『架空坂チャンネル生配信』の幕が上がった。練習で使っている稽古場の常設ステージ、番組収録はいつもこの場所で行われる。文字通り舞台の幕が上がる演出映像から架空坂チャンネルのオープニングが始まるのだ。

「はい、今週も始まりました『架空坂チャンネル』今日は特別ゲストがいらっしゃってマ〜ス」司会進行は毎度おなじみ、例のお笑い芸人。カメラが横にパンすると、ソコには飾り気の無いデニムジャケットを来た木田真理子がぎこちない笑顔で座っていた。

「…おいおい、自己紹介～」
　少しの間を置いて絶妙に突っ込む司会者に真理子は苦笑いしながら「こういうの慣れてなくてスミマセン、木田…　真理子です」と頭を下げる。突っ込まれる事で真理子は少し緊張がほぐれた様だ。

「え～　私が初めて木田さんを知ったのは、忘れもしないあの野音のライブ会場ですよ」それが癖なのだろう。司会者は眼鏡のフレームを触りながら真理子に語り掛けた。
「ですよね～」
「ちなみに木田さんは私の事…　知ってました？」
「ええそりゃもう…　架空坂ライブ行くと必ず居ますからね。あはは…」

　そんな何気ないやり取りがしばらく続いた後、おもむろに司会者が真顔になり真理子にたずねた。
「あの時どうだった？」
「…あの時って、あの時ですよね」聞くまでもない事だが、真理子は一応確認をしてみた。「そう。8位になったあの時。やっぱり嬉しかった？」大きく頷いて司会者はまたズレてもいないメガネの位置を直す。

「あの時は…」真理子は_少し言葉を詰まらせた。

「…驚いた。もうそれしかなかったですね」
「嬉しくは無かった？」
「いや、そんな状況じゃ無かったですよ。そもそも参加してないんだから」
　
　そう言った後で思い出した様に言葉を続けた。
「ちょっと叔母に…　ああ、上京時からバイトさせて貰ったりして、ずっとお世話になってる叔母が居るんですよ。その叔母が言った事がまさにハラオチしたと言うか…　」

「ほうほう。と言うと？」司会者は興味深そうに真理子の顔を覗き込む。

「…選挙の手伝いに行って、みんなで開票速報を見ていたら何故か立候補もしていないのに自分が当選していて、説得されてそのまま議員になっちゃった！　…みたいな事ですよ。そんな状況って嬉しいとかよりもひたすら驚きですよね？」
「ああ！　なるほど。わかりやすい」司会者は膝をピシャリと叩いて頷く。

「でも」

「でも？」

「…でも、結局アタシは2年しか居られませんでした」
「ああ、でもまあそれはねぇ…　定年制で」　この司会者の言う定年とは、架空坂は25歳で自主的に卒業するシステムの事で、それをメンバー内では「定年」と呼んでいる件を指している。

「定年ちょっと過ぎても居座りましたけどね～　アハハ」

　そう屈託なく笑う真理子と笑顔の司会者。釣られて笑顔で見守っている制作スタッフ。スタジオは和やかな空気で包まれていた。

「しかしその期間で、後継者のボンちゃんも現れたし。私が思い返しても木田さんが在籍した期間て、架空坂史上一番濃厚な期間だったんじゃないかなぁ…」司会者が天井をぼんやり見上げて呟く。
「アタシにとっても人生で一番濃い2年間でした」

　真理子は架空坂を卒業して、今はソロアーティストとして頑張っている。架空坂で培ったスキルや知名度を活かして、ライブ活動や歌番組出演だけでなくバラエティ番組にも引っ張りダコ、端役とは言えドラマにも何度か出演している。

　そんな中、卒業時に記念ソロ曲として貰った「サクラサク」が、なぜか今頃になって火が付きチャートイン。今回は異例の卒業生ゲストとして『架空坂チャンネル』に出演しているのだ。

「この曲、卒業記念でリリースした時にはさっぱり売れなかったのにね～」司会者がニヤニヤと笑いながら真理子を見ている。
「ひど～い！　て、事実だから仕方ないけど～　あはは」

「まあアレはタイミングも悪かったしね。K46プロジェクトと競争する形のリリースだったし…」
「ホント、卒業にアレぶつけて来るか～　て感じでしたよ！」真理子は少しだけ声を荒げた。

　『K46プロジェクト』と言うのは、留学生と言う名目で招いたK-popアイドル3人組の事だ。基本的に期間限定ユニットで、今では韓国で引っ張りダコの3人組だがデビューは架空坂のステージである。

　目的としては、マンネリ化してきた架空坂46に刺激をもたらす存在として、大河プロデューサーが期間限定を条件に韓国で3人をスカウトしてきたのだ。日本で架空坂メンバー混ざって競作・共演をしたり、独自でライブもしたりと大活躍だったが惜しまれつつも帰国。今でも客演と言う形で時々架空坂のステージに顔を出す事がある。

　時期的に運悪く真理子の卒業とリリースがカブってしまい、真理子の卒業記念ソロシングルはすっかり霞んでしまった感じだった。罰ゲームでCDを路上ライブで手売りして周る等の企画効果もあり、一応の目標セールスには達したが、それでも『K46プロジェクト』の売上には遠く及ばなかったのだ。

「それが今になって何故か大ヒット…　と。なんで？」司会者はまた眼鏡を触る。

「なんで…　でしょうねぇ？」真理子は笑った。

「自分としては、卒業してから地道に路上ライブやったり、地方のライブハウスに行って飛び入りで歌わせてもらったり…　そういうコツコツやってきた事が報われたのかなって、そんな風に思ってるんですけどね」

　真理子は思い出すように語りながら天井を見つめる。司会者は何も言わずに腕組みをして、ただ頷いて聞き入っていた。

「そもそも間違いなく良い曲ですからね」真理子が話し続ける「あの対決企画の時は恨み事も言ったし散々な目にも遭ったけど、今はプロデュースしてくれた虎Pと、作曲してくれた愛ちゃんには感謝しか無いです」

「そう言えば先日、久しぶりに架空坂46メンバーとステージ共演してましたね」司会者が言っているのは、日比谷野音が改修工事に入る前に行われた『野音最終ライブ46』の事だろう。

「そうですね。思い出のステージのラストをみんなと踏めて感無量でした」
「ボンちゃんとのギターデュエット、良かったですよ～　ファンもかなり盛り上がってましたね」何故か司会者の目が潤んでいる。彼は、ボンちゃん -真田杏の事はデビュー前から何かと目をかけていたので感無量なのだろう。

「ボンちゃん、ギター上手くなっちゃって…　もうアタシ『ギター姐さん』なんて名乗れ…　いや名乗ってないんだけどアハハ。サポーターに貰ったニックネーム返上しなきゃですよ～」
「木田さんと言えば以前はグループで唯一、ギター弾ける存在でしたからね」
「それ…」司会者に言われて、真理子はちょっと首を傾げた。
「多分ですけど、ボブ子も弾けたんじゃないかと思うんですよ。あの子って楽器全般万能じゃないですか？　ギターだけ弾けないっておかしくありません？」
「確かに」司会者がうなづく。
「本当は、その『枠』を空けて誰かを待ってたんじゃないかな～　で、たまたまアタシが当て嵌まった。そんな気がするんですよ…　なんとなくですけど」

「案外、本当にそうなのかもね…　なにせ超天才ボブ子様ですから。いったいどのくらい先まで見越してるのか計り知れない…」相変わらず腕組みをしながら司会者は唸った。

「さて、つもる話はありまくりなんですが…　そろそろね。時間も時間ですし曲の方に行ってみたいと思います。では！　紆余曲折あっての大ヒット…」
「いや言い方～」真理子が笑って突っ込む。
「ハハハ、まあ売れるべくして売れた曲ですから。自信持って紹介しましょうよ。では本人から曲紹介、どうぞ！」
　
　促され、ひと呼吸置いて真理子はゆっくりと思いを込めて言った。

「はい。アタシの架空坂時代すべてが詰まってる…　とても思い出深い曲です。それでは聴いてください『サクラサク』」

「それでは、架空坂チャンネル。本日のゲストは『元』ギター姐さんこと 木田真理子さんでした～」

　イントロが流れ出す。配信の画面はプロモーションビデオに切り替わったが、司会者と真理子はカメラに向かって手を振り続けていた。
