中国の国家衛星気象センターは、この種のものとしては最も強いXクラスの太陽フレアが日曜日に地球を襲い、5月6日から8日にかけてさらなるフレアが発生すると予想されることから、通信システムに混乱が生じる可能性があるとして警告を発した。

中国科学院傘下の紫金山天文台によると、中国語で「夸父1号(Kuafu-1)」と呼ばれる中国の先進的宇宙太陽天文台(ASO-S)は、2022年10月の打ち上げ以来、100回以上の太陽白色光フレアを検出した。
