第5回　学びのつながり

コメニウスの『世界図絵』は、
その後、ヨーロッパ中に広まった。

ドイツ語、フランス語、
英語、ラテン語などに翻訳され、
多くの国で読まれた。

印刷の技術が進むにつれて、
本はより多くの人の手に届くようになった。

そして、
「子どもに教えること」
そのものが社会の中で
大切にされるようになっていった。

18世紀には、
教育を受ける権利という考えが
少しずつ広まっていった。

19世紀になると、
国が学校をつくるようになり、
教育が制度として整っていく。

その流れの中には、
コメニウスが残した
「すべての人に学びを」という理念が
確かに息づいていた。

やがて世界の多くの国で、
学校が当たり前の場所となった。

読み書きや計算だけでなく、
音楽や理科、社会を学ぶ。

それは、
一人ひとりが自分の考えを持ち、
他の人と理解しあうための
大切な時間となった。

コメニウスの思想は、
日本にも影響を与えた。

明治時代、
近代教育をつくる際に、
多くの教育者が彼の思想を学んだ。

「子どもが中心の教育」
という考え方は、
コメニウスの言葉から
受け継がれたものだった。

学びは、
一人の人から始まり、
時代をこえて受け継がれる。

400年前の小さな教室で始まった光が、
今も世界のどこかで
子どもの目を照らしている。

それが、
コメニウスが残した
最大の遺産である。

Comenius’s Orbis Pictus
spread across Europe.

It was translated into
German, French, English,
and Latin as well.

Printing technology advanced,
and books reached more hands.

Teaching children itself
became a cherished part
of society’s heart.

By the eighteenth century,
the idea of education
as a right began to rise.

In the nineteenth century,
nations built their schools,
and systems took their form.

Within that long current
flowed Comenius’s spirit—
“Learning for all people.”

Soon schools became common
in nations across the world.

Children learned not only
reading and numbers,
but music, science, and life.

School became the place
to think, to listen,
to understand one another.

His vision reached Japan, too.
During the Meiji era,
educators studied his words
to shape modern schooling.

The idea of “child-centered”
education was inherited
from Comenius’s thought.

Learning begins with one soul,
and passes through the ages.

The light born four centuries ago
still shines somewhere today—
upon the eyes of a child
discovering the world.

That is the greatest legacy
Comenius left behind.
