According to reports from French media, including BFMTV and La Provence, Pormanove was found unresponsive overnight on August 17–18 at his home in Contes, Alpes-Maritimes.

In one message to his mom, reportedly sent a few days before his death, Pormanove said he felt like he was “being held hostage” and was “fed up” with the streams.

France confirms investigation as Kick responds

8月19日、フランスのデジタル・人工知能（AI）担当大臣クララ・シャパズ氏は、今回の事件を「屈辱」であり「虐待」であるとし、司法捜査が進行中であることを確認した。
On August 19, Clara Chappaz, France’s minister for digital affairs and artificial intelligence, called the ordeal “humiliation” and “mistreatment,” confirming a judicial investigation is underway.

“The death of Jean Pormanove and the violence he endured are an absolute horror,” she said.

Meanwhile, Kick told the BBC it was “urgently reviewing” the circumstances of Pormanove’s death and is working with stakeholders to conduct their own investigation.
