English – ★☆☆
1. Winter in Paris
In January 2026, I went to France.
I stayed in Paris.
I like cafés.
I wanted to go to a café near my hotel for breakfast.
I woke up at 6 a.m.
Because of jet lag, I could not sleep well.
Outside, it was still dark.
I looked for cafés on Google Maps.
I found one café. It opened at 8:30 a.m.
I was already awake.
So I decided to go when it opened.
I got ready slowly.

At 7:30, I looked at the clock.
But outside, it was still dark.
I checked the weather app on my iPhone.
I learned that in January, the sun rises after 8 a.m. in Paris.
In Tokyo, the sun rises around 6:30 a.m. in January.
So I was surprised.

4. Winter in Europe
I had a question:
Do people in Paris start their day late?
After my trip, I talked with a woman from the UK.
She said,
“In winter, the sun rises late.
We start work at 9 a.m.”
When she was a student in London,
she left home when it was still dark.
Sometimes, she did not see the sun.
I was a little surprised.

5. A Little Nostalgic
Winter in Paris was a new experience for me.
I grew up in a snowy area.
The dark winter light reminded me of my hometown.
I felt a little nostalgic.
