網など無かった。網を売ってしまった時のことは、少年も覚えている。
しかし二人はこの虚構を毎日繰り返していた。
魚を混ぜた飯も無い。少年はそれも知っている。
「85ってのは、良い数字だ」老人は言った。
「バラして千ポンドにもなるような、大物を釣ってくるのを見たいだろう？」
