「ちょっと待って、アドベントカレンダー準備してない〜！」って思ったの、私だけじゃないはず…😅💦

そんな方のために、準備いらず・クリックだけでOK のクリスマス英語アドベントカレンダーを作りました🎄✨
無料でそのまま使えて、忙しい12月でも気軽に英語時間が作れます。

クリスマス英語アドベントカレンダー｜忙しい12月でも、英語が“a breeze”に

冬の始まりと、ちょっとしたワクワク

もうすぐ11月も終わり、みんなクリスマスの準備でバタバタしている頃だと思います。私はこの季節が大好きで、ツリーのライトがチカチカ光るだけで家の中が一気に温かく感じられ、雪や寒さもあまり気になりません。正直、冬の間ずっとツリーを飾っておいてもいいかもしれません。特に北海道の冬は本当に長いですよね。


おうち英語との相性バツグンの季節

ハロウィンと同じように、クリスマスもおうち英語を試す絶好のチャンスです。クリスマスの語彙は馴染みがあり、街中にもかわいいクリスマスのイメージがたくさん見つかります。でも、年末の準備に飾りつけ、プレゼント選びやラッピング、ディナーやケーキの計画など、とにかく忙しい季節でもあります。ふう…！ 本当に対処する（deal with）ことが多くて、私も時々いっぱいいっぱいになります。だからこそ、おうち英語がとても簡単に感じられる（seems like a breeze）ような、手軽にできるものを作りたいと思いました。

思い出がつまったアドベントカレンダー

最近、日本でもアドベントカレンダーを見かけることが増えた気がします。私の家には、母が私の子どもの頃に使っていたアドベントカレンダーがあり、毎年12月になるとそれを飾って、少しだけアメリカの実家を思い出しています。毎回ポケットを開ける瞬間のワクワク感や、毎年同じアンズミントチョコが入っていた時の嬉しさは今でも覚えています。

アメリカの“pretty intense”な現状

アメリカでは最近、アドベントカレンダーがかなり豪華（pretty intense）になっていて、ただのカウントダウンというより、24日間のプレゼント大会のようになっていることもあります。私はそんなストレスや出費はいりません…。実際、一番悩むのは、娘と息子の両方が喜んで、なおかつポケットに収まる小さなお菓子を見つけることなんです。だからこそ、「おうち英語のアドベントカレンダー」があったら楽しいのではと思いました。シンプルで楽しく、プレッシャーのないものを目指しました。

手間なしで始められる英語アドベント

このアドベントカレンダーは、生活を簡単にするためのものです。決して手間を増やすためのものではありません。毎日、クリスマスをテーマにしたYouTube動画のリンクを開くだけ。何かを買う必要も準備する必要もありません。

PDFダウンロードやCanvaの公開ページから、毎日のリンクをそのまま開くことができます。もしよければ、印刷して、できた日にはお子さんがシールを貼るようにすると達成感が出て楽しくなります。でもこれは完全にお好みで大丈夫です。

準備が必要なのは“描く日”だけ

唯一準備が必要なのは、「Draw a Christmas Picture（クリスマスの絵を描こう）」の日で、紙と筆記用具だけ用意してください。

それぞれのリンクの下には、動画の長さが書いてあるので、時間に合わせて選ぶことができます。週末用には少し長めのものを用意しました。どれもフルエピソードで、プレイリストやまとめ動画ではないので、YouTubeの急な切り替わりによるストレスも少ないと思います。

ホリデーシーズンはとても楽しい反面、本当に慌ただしい（hectic）時期でもあります。
このカレンダーが、12月のおうちに少しだけストレスのない英語時間を届けられたら嬉しいです。ほんの数分でも、英語がぐっと身近で心地よいものになりますように。

November is almost finished, and everyone is probably busy getting ready for Christmas. I love this time of year, and the twinkling lights on the Christmas tree make the whole house feel so cozy that I don’t even mind the snow and the cold. Honestly, maybe I should just leave the tree up all winter. Especially in Hokkaido, winter is sooo long.

Just like Halloween, Christmas time is a wonderful chance to try a little English at Home. The vocabulary is familiar, and cute Christmas images pop up everywhere you go. But it is also a very busy season with end-of-year prep, decorating, choosing and wrapping presents, and planning dinner and cakes. Whew! It is a lot to deal with, and even I sometimes feel overwhelmed. That is why I wanted to create something easy that makes English at Home seem like a breeze.

Advent calendars and a little nostalgia

It seems that advent calendars are becoming more popular in Japan these days. My mom actually gave me the advent calendar she used when I was a child, so I have this sweet little reminder of home hanging in my house every December. I still remember the excitement of opening each pocket and always finding the same Andes Mint Chocolate year after year.

In America these days, advent calendars have gotten pretty intense and often turn into 24 days of full-on gifts instead of a simple countdown. I definitely do not need that kind of stress or extra expense in my life. Honestly, the biggest challenge for me is just finding tiny treats that both my daughter and son enjoy and that actually fit in the pockets. That is why I thought it might be fun to make an advent calendar for English at Home. Something simple, fun, and pressure-free.

A zero-prep Advent Calendar for English at Home

This advent calendar is meant to make your life easier, not more complicated.
Each day is simply a link to a Christmas-themed YouTube video. There is nothing to buy and nothing to set up.

You can open each day directly from the PDF download or Canva’s public link page. If you want, you can also print the calendar and let your children put stickers on the days they complete. But that is totally optional.

The only preparation you may need is on the Draw a Christmas Picture days, when you will need paper and something to write with.

⭐ Vocabulary Addendum

deal with（対処する、向き合う）
忙しい時期にこなさなければいけないことや問題に向き合う時に使う表現。
Example: “I have so many things to deal with before Christmas.”
例：「クリスマス前に対処することがたくさんあります。」

seems like a breeze（とても簡単そうに思える）
楽にできそう、負担が少なそうというニュアンス。
Example: “This advent calendar makes English at Home seem like a breeze.”
例：「このアドベントカレンダーならおうち英語がとても簡単に感じます。」

pretty intense（かなり大変、濃い、強め）
量が多い、負担がある、驚くほどすごいという時に使う表現。
Example: “Some American advent calendars are pretty intense.”
例：「アメリカのアドベントカレンダーはかなり大変です。」

hectic（とても忙しい、慌ただしい）
予定が詰まってバタバタしている状態。
Example: “December is always so hectic.”
例：「12月はいつもとても慌ただしいです。」
