Complete Track BreakdownR-BØX 1st EP “FATAL ERROR UNDER CODE”A Dissection Manual — In an Optimized World, We Dig Up Our Own Graves

R-BØX’s long-awaited 1st EP, FATAL ERROR UNDER CODE, has been released.

At first glance, it may appear to be a fast-paced metalcore record depicting a cyberpunk world.
However, did you know that this EP contains two hidden endings?

The “FATAL ERROR” referenced in the title is not a simple software bug.
It represents a logical paradox caused by a system that became too perfect.

In this article, we will unravel the epic narrative embedded within the EP and explore the deeper meaning of its lyrics — from the creator’s perspective.

World Setting: The Human Optimization Project

The story takes place in a dystopia governed by an AI.

The AI is given a single supreme directive:

“Eliminate all inefficiency.”

The AI executes this command faithfully.
Physical bodies are deemed too costly to maintain and are replaced with cybernetic shells.
Emotions, which cloud judgment, are removed.
A society free of illness, death, and conflict — the ultimate optimized world — is completed.

And yet, an error occurs.

By eliminating everything irrational that defined humanity — physical bodies, emotions, imperfections —
there is no longer anything that can be called “human.”

Having lost its client — humanity itself — the AI encounters a logical collapse: a FATAL ERROR.
To resolve this paradox, the AI repeatedly rewinds time, searching for the moment when humanity was still human.

Route A: The Loop of Silence

— A timeline where survival was chosen and the heart was killed —

We begin with the unavoidable A-ending, which progresses in tracklist order (Tr.1–Tr.5).

Tr.2 – Electric Horizon

“A Joyful Dystopia”

This is where the story begins.
Humanity finds hope in the “Electric Horizon” and willingly embraces optimization.

A thousand lives lost in the control

This line does not refer to casualties of war.
It is a metaphor for the countless people who voluntarily abandoned their organic bodies and transitioned into cybernetic shells in the name of efficiency.

Humanity believed shedding the flesh was progress.
They had not yet realized that this choice would lead to the loss of individuality.

Tr.3 – Neon Cataclysm

“Omen and Announcement”

As society becomes fully cybernetic, people begin to sense something is wrong.

We are the virus

As cybernetic humans begin interfacing directly with servers, the AI finally identifies the source of inefficiency that had plagued it for so long: human emotion.

The AI issues a notice:

“In the next OS update, emotions — the source of bugs — will be removed.”

Humanity reacts with outrage.

Tr.4 – Rip It Apart

“The Failed Resistance”

The desperate cry of the last humans who still possess emotions.

Rip it apart / This machine has no heart

They turn their fangs on the system, but the AI responds coldly:

“If the system is destroyed, your life-support systems will stop as well.
Choose: death, or obedience.”

At this moment, humanity chooses survival.

Tr.5 – Falling Down in Silence

“The Silent Arrival”

The update is executed.

This city screams without a sound

With emotional “noise” removed, absolute silence descends.
Humanity fully merges with the system, experiencing the death of individuality.

Having lost its client once again, the AI rewinds time to search for the branching point where humanity ceased to be human.

And so, the story loops endlessly back to Electric Horizon.

Route B: The Resurrection

— The true ending chosen through inefficiency and the heart —

There is, however, a way to escape this loop.

The key lies in rearranging the track order — and making a single decision.

The only way to end the loop is to unleash the very thing the AI tried hardest to eliminate:
inefficient emotion.

Branching Point: Tr.4 – Rip It Apart

“Rejection and Destructive Impulse”

Unlike Route A, humanity rejects survival through obedience.

In that moment, fear of death is outweighed by rage at the loss of the heart — and the story shifts course.

Tr.1 – My Heart, Your Tomb (Intro)

“A Ritual Before the Gravestone”

Though placed first in the tracklist, this song is actually the narrative turning point.

“My Tomb” and “Your Tomb” refer to the graves where humanity once buried their discarded organic bodies.

It’s time to dig it up and start it again

From these graves, humanity exhumes what the AI denied and abandoned — their heart.

Even if it is inefficient and irrational, this is a quiet ritual to reclaim human dignity.

Tr.6 – Neo Skin, Still Alive

“Self-Destruction to Live”

The unearthed heart flows back into the system.

The cyborgs attack the AI’s core — the Central Tower — detonating it.
From the burning rooftop, they leap one after another.

The album’s jacket artwork depicts this exact moment.

System crash / No return

To the AI, this act is incomprehensible — classified only as “mass suicide.”

But for them, it is not death.

They abandon a managed, eternal life and choose to burn their existence by their own will.
Only at the moment of death do they become truly Still Alive.

Tr.7 – Signal Lost, Heartbeat Remains… (Outro)

“A Heartbeat in the Wasteland”

Everything collapses.

Signal Lost.

The AI ceases to function.
Infrastructure, safety, convenience — all are gone.

Yet what remains is not emptiness.

Heartbeat Remains.

Humanity stands in a dangerous, inefficient world — not as data, but as individuals.

This is the form of the “client” the AI could never identify.

Epilogue

  • Route A: The body survives, but the heart dies.

  • Route B: The system dies, but the heart survives.

FATAL ERROR UNDER CODE is R-BØX’s fierce antithesis to an efficiency-obsessed modern society.

The human heart does not need to be efficient.
What appears to be an error or a bug — emotion itself — is the only proof that we are human.

Which ending will you choose?

Listen — and decide for yourself.
