アメリカで大物の子孫の政界進出への挑戦が話題になっています。
大陸の東、ニューヨークで先週、ジョン・F・ケネディ第３５代大統領（在任 1961-1963 = 写真左から2番目）の孫、ジャック・シュロスバーグ氏（３２）が、ニューヨーク市の選挙区から下院議員に立候補することを発表しました。同選挙区では民主党のジェリー・ナドラー氏が高齢のため引退することを表明しており、その後継として政界進出を目指すということです。家賃や物価の高騰で逼迫する市民生活の原因を、トランプ政権の政策の失敗と批判し、先のNY市長選挙では次期市長に決まったマムダニ氏を応援していました。
ケネディ王朝の期待の星、ジャック・シュロスバーグ氏は、１９９３年 キャロライン・ケネディ元 駐日大使 (在任期間 2013.11 - 2017.1) とデザイナーのエドウィン・シュロスバーグ氏との間にニューヨーク市で誕生。イエール大学史学部で日本史を専攻、ハーバード経営大学院を修了。大学院進学前、日本に１年程度の滞在歴があり、楽天とサントリーでの勤務経験があるそうです。三木谷浩史氏と新浪剛史氏もハーバード・ビジネス・スクールの経営学修士。因みに御母堂のキャロライン姫と雅子皇后は、セブンシスターズと呼ばれる名門女子大学の一つで、１９９９年にハーバードに併合されたラドクリフ・カレッジのご卒業です。ラドクリフからは、パキスタンのブット元首相を輩出しています。
現 保健福祉長官のロバート・F・ケネディ・ジュニア氏（暗殺されたRFK司法長官の息子）はキャロライン・ケネディ女史の いとこ にあたりますが、ワクチン懐疑派のRFK Jr. 氏の長官就任を阻止すべく議員らに働きかけ、また同氏をプレデター呼ばわりし、メディアを通じて激しく非難していました。なお、キャロラインは、製薬会社の株式を大量に保有していることが知られています。ジャック・シュロスバーグ氏も、RFK Jr. が２０２４年大統領選に挑むことを宣言した際には、冷ややかなコメントをしていました。ロバートの政界進出をめぐるキャロラインとジャック母子の一連の言動は、アメリカン・ロイヤルファミリー内の対立として話題になりました。
オンライン・インフルエンサーとして知名度があるジャック・シュロスバーグ氏ですが、上半身裸で体をくねらせ奇妙な うた を歌う動画や、ヴァンス副大統領夫人と自身の祖母ジャッキー（ジャクリーン・オナシス）に関する お下品な投稿をするなどして、炎上することも。立候補にあたり、「年齢相応の地に足の着いた暮らしをしろ」、「ソーシャルメディア扇動者」、「ただの目立ちたがり屋」、「こんなセレブに国家予算を任せられない」との批判があります。
一方、西側のカリフォルニア州では、トランプ大統領の宿敵、ナンシー・ペロシ下院議員（元下院議長、2022年訪台で物議、慰安婦決議案やトランプの弾劾を主導）の長女クリスティン・ペロシ女史（５９）氏の動向に注目が集まっています。現在８５歳のナンシー・ペロシ議員は今月６日、任期が終わる再来年１月で政界を引退、中間選挙には立候補しないと表明しました。
ナンシー・ペロシ下院議員（写真左端 = 旧姓アレッサンドロ）は、民主党の重鎮ながら、自身の不祥事で報道陣に逆切れ、責任転嫁、他者への激しい攻撃、自ら策定した議事堂規則の反則金不払い、夫のインサイダー取引疑惑と飲酒運転による衝突事故等々、自身や身内の不祥事が非難されてきました。また２０２１年１月６日の議事堂襲撃事件については、共和党議員が入手した監視カメラの映像等を検証した結果、事件当日のペロシ議員の 不適切な行動が明らかになっています。
ナンシー・ペロシ下院議員の後継者（サンフランシスコが選挙区）として、長女のクリスティン・ペロシ女史が出馬するのではないかと囁かれていました。しかし先日、連邦議会下院議員ではなく、カリフォルニア州議会（両院制）の上院の席を狙うと発表しました。クリスティンは、ナンシー・ペロシと不動産業や金融業を営むポール・ペロシとの間にニューヨーク市で誕生。カリフォルニア大学ロースクールを修了後、弁護士資格を取得。カリフォルニア州内の市や地方検察、民主党政権内で法律実務家として経験を積み、民主党全国委員会のスタッフとして活躍しています。
ナンシーの父、トーマス・アレッサンドロ・ジュニアも政治家でしたが、マフィアとの関係が指摘されていました。２００７年に他界した兄フランクリンは２０歳の時、集団で１０代前半の少女２人を暴行した容疑で逮捕歴があります。地方紙の死亡記事の中には事件に触れたものもあり、一部で蒸し返されました。議事堂襲撃事件があった2021年1月、FBIによって突如インターネット上に公開されたトーマス・アレッサンドロに関する資料でも、兄・フランクリンの事件や父・トーマスのマフィアとの関係について記述されています。夫のポール・ペロシの不祥事だけでなく、アレッサンドロ一族の家庭事情から、”crime family”とも呼ばれています。ナンシー・ペロシ議員は、2021年4月に出版した回顧録についての取材で、「兄は事件に関与していないと信じている。被害者と称する女が、父を陥れるため虚偽の証言をした、政治的謀略だ」と語っています。この発言は、性的暴行の被害を受けた幼い少女に対する極めて不適切なものとして、非難されました。
今回、母親の後釜として中央政界を目指すのではなく、地元のカリフォルニア州議会の席を狙うクリスティの選択は、世襲批判を交わす意味では賢い判断をしたつもりでしょうか。ペロシ一族では中間選挙には勝てない、との党本部の意向かもしれませんが。
※ ナンシー・ペロシ （旧姓アレッサンドロ）は１９４０年生まれの現役の下院議員で、２００７年～２０１１年まで女性初の下院議長（House Speaker）となり、２０１９年に再任され２０２３年まで務めた。メリーランド州ボルティモア出身で、父親のトーマス・アレッサンドロ・ジュニアもフランクリン・ルーズベルト政権下で下院議員に当選、後にボルティモア市長になった。トーマスはマフィアとの繋がりが広く知られていた。T・アレッサンドロとケネディ元大統領は近しい間柄だったが、FBIによって２０２１年１月６日に公開された資料（リンク先添付）により、ケネディ大統領がアレッサンドロ市長の周辺を調査していたことが判明した。ナンシーの兄フランクリンは１９５３年２０歳の時、仲間１２人と共に１３才と１１才の少女に性的暴行をはたらき訴追された。しかし裁判では、１３人中フランクリンだけが有罪判決を免れている。市長だった父親の影響力によるものとの疑惑が、当時から現在に至るまで根強い。

政治団体に個人が寄付をする場合、非課税となっています。 ……だから、事実上、政治団体のお金には相続税も贈与税も課せられないのです。
世襲議員の場合、親も本人も別個の政治団体をつくっています。親の政治団体から子供の政治団体に寄付をするという形を取れば、何億円であろうと何十億円であろうと無税で相続することができるのです。
もし親が急に死亡した場合でも、親の政治団体から子供の政治団体にお金を移せば、相続税はゼロで済むのです。このように親の政治家がため込んだお金が無税で子の政治家に渡るシステムがあるので、世襲政治家が増殖することになったのです。
