I Make Music With AI — And I Don’t Think It’s Cheating

I sometimes hear people say this when they find out I make music with AI.

“Isn’t that cheating?”
“AI music doesn’t have a soul.”

I understand why people might feel that way.
But I see it a little differently.

I Actually Love My Own Music

This might sound strange, but I listen to my own songs almost every day in the car.

Not because I think I’m amazing.
But because the songs I make are exactly the kind of music I want to hear.

The reason I started making music was simple.

I couldn’t find the music I wanted to listen to anymore.

AI Is Just a Tool

To me, AI isn’t the music.

It’s a tool.

Just like a guitar.
Just like a synthesizer.
Just like recording software.

The idea, the feeling, and the intention still come from a human.

AI simply helps turn those ideas into sound.

Imperfect Feelings Still Exist

Even with AI, music still comes from emotions.

Feeling tired.
Feeling overwhelmed.
Feeling quiet.

Some of my songs come from nights where everything feels too loud, or when I just want to disappear into silence for a while.

AI doesn’t create those feelings.

People do.

Music Doesn’t Need Permission

Every generation has new tools.

Electric guitars were once considered “fake.”
Synthesizers were criticized.
Even sampling was controversial.

But eventually they all became part of music.

AI might just be another step in that evolution.

Maybe the Question Is Different

Maybe the question isn’t

“Is AI cheating?”

Maybe the real question is

“Does the music make you feel something?”

Because in the end, that’s what music has always been about.
