Hello. I am Kaori Takatsuki.
I found some nostalgic photos on my iPhone.
On October 10, 2018, I received a photo from my former teacher, Mr. Marinescu, via LINE.
That day, there was a concert featuring ten members of the Berlin Philharmonic, and I went to listen.
Before the concert started, I was sitting a little behind the center and was looking around, wondering if Daishin Kashimoto (the concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic) might be in the audience.
To my surprise, I found Mr. Marinescu sitting right behind me!
I couldn't help but exclaim, "Sensei!?"
He noticed me and said, "Kaori? What are you doing here?"
Even though he asked why, it was obvious that I came to listen. I guess he was quite surprised too, considering we had seats right next to each other in such a large concert hall.

The concert began, but the sound was far from what I had expected, and I was clapping while thinking something was off.
I wondered if they hadn't rehearsed since arriving in Japan, as the performance sounded that way. Unfortunately, that feeling continued until the end.
However, that changed during the encore.
The concertmaster introduced Mr. Dragus as a Romanian violinist (in English), and Mr. Dragus began to play solo.
I was moved within just a few seconds of the beginning. He continued to showcase extraordinary technique and, of course, captivated us with his sound, transforming the entire atmosphere of the hall in no time.
After the performance, there was an incredible round of applause, and my teacher shouted, "Bravo!" I was clapping so hard that my hands hurt.
I felt it was worth coming.
As the concert ended, I thought I would go home with my teacher, but he said, "Kaori, I'm going to talk to him for a bit. He's also Romanian."
So, I decided to head home first. On my way back, I received a LINE message from my teacher.
When I checked LINE, he had sent a photo. Here it is.

The photo I mentioned at the beginning.
... Just think about it. If your instrument teacher went to a concert like this abroad and happened to find a Japanese person performing, would they approach them just because they are also Japanese and go out to dinner with the concertmaster?
And this is the Berlin Philharmonic, after all.
I realized how great my teacher is.
Lastly, please listen to the extraordinary technique of Bogdan Dragus, which captivated the audience in an instant, performing "The Lark."
May your life be filled with wonderful music.
