🌌 Mars Lift Log 10: Starry Night

That night, the dome’s air pressure was finally stable, and the girl wandered quietly to the outer edge of the habitat zone.
Her name was Rina — ten years old, born on Mars.
She had never seen Earth.
For her, the Martian sky was the only universe she had ever known.

Her favorite spot was a small hill of clustered rocks, just beyond Observation Post Four.
There, she would sit alone and gaze up — where, beyond the transparent dome ceiling, the stars shimmered as if they were falling toward her.

But this night felt different.
Rina closed her eyes and listened.

And she heard something.
Not sound, not exactly — more like a vibration inside her chest, like plucked strings in a silent room.
The stars… were singing.

“What if I’m not supposed to hear this?” she whispered to herself.
Still, she pulled out her tiny recorder, trying to capture the moment.

Then came the wind.
Dry, thin Martian wind — gentle as a lullaby.

She lowered the recorder.

“I think… I’d rather just remember it.”

What she saw that night wasn’t a meteor.
But in her eyes, the stars really were falling — one by one, gently.

Years passed.
Rina became a sound researcher.
Her specialty?

“Do stars make sound?”

But to one person — just one — she once said softly:

“I already know the answer.
I heard them. That night… they all sang to me.”

その夜、ドームの気圧が安定したのを確認した少女は、許可区域ギリギリまでひとりで歩いた。
名前はリナ。火星生まれ、まだ10歳。
地球を知らない彼女にとって、火星の空こそが「宇宙」そのものだった。

リナのお気に入りの場所は、第4観測台のそばにある、小さな岩だまりの丘。
そこに座って空を見上げると、人工ガラスの向こうに、まるで降りてくるように星々が瞬く。

その夜は、特別だった。
リナは耳を澄ませた。
すると、確かに**“音”がした**。

星が、空の上で弦を弾くようにきらめき、音のないはずの宇宙で、かすかな響きが心に届いた。
彼女にはわかった。これは星が語りかけているのだと。

「この音、誰にも話しちゃだめって言われたらどうしよう」
そうつぶやきながら、彼女は小さな録音機を取り出し、星の音を録ろうとした。

でも、その瞬間、風が吹いた。
火星の夜風は、乾いていて、でもどこか優しい。
リナは録音をやめて、目を閉じた。

「記録より、ちゃんと覚えていたい」
それが彼女の結論だった。

彼女がその夜見た光は、流星ではなかった。
でも、彼女の目には、確かに星が“降って”いた。

あれから数年。
リナは大人になり、音響学者になった。
彼女の研究テーマは、今も変わらない。

「星の音は、本当に存在するのか？」

でも彼女は、たった一人だけにこう言うことがある。

「私ね、知ってるの。本当は、あの夜に全部、聴いたんだよ。」
