Hospital Diary 7 – The Surgery Was Over, But the Real Pain Began – June 27 (Saturday)2026 R8

Right after my surgery, I was surprised that I did not feel much pain.

I even thought,
“Maybe this won’t be so bad.”

But the real pain started after the anesthesia wore off.

Late that night, the pain became much stronger.

The first pain medicine was not enough, so the nurse gave me a suppository.

The next day, my shoulder was swollen, warm, and filled with a deep, dull ache.

By evening, I needed another suppository.

People say that bones themselves have no nerves.

Even so, the muscles, blood vessels, and other tissues around the bone certainly let me know that I had surgery.

That was when I truly realized how painful a broken bone can be.

One thing surprised me, though.

I finished every meal during my hospital stay.

Even when I am sick, I can usually eat well.

I have always been someone who eats a lot but never gains much weight.

Perhaps having a good appetite is one of the reasons my body can recover.

Yesterday, the chest support band was finally removed, leaving only the arm sling.

That alone made me feel much more comfortable.

Recovery comes one small step at a time.
