Here’s my illustration of David Bowie from his post-Ziggy Stardust era.
His costumes from Aladdin Sane to Diamond Dogs are especially fascinating—this was around the time he began incorporating designs by Kansai Yamamoto.
The iconic eyepatch look? That was due to a temporary case of conjunctivitis in 1974.
From there, he moved on to the legendary Berlin Trilogy and beyond—always chasing something new and exciting. A true creative force.

Ziggy Stardust以降のデヴィッド・ボウイを描いてみた。「Aladdin Sane」から「Diamond Dogs」期にかけての衣装は特に面白く、山本寛斎のデザインが取り入れられ始めたのもこの頃。眼帯姿は、彼を特徴づけるオッドアイとは無関係で1974年に一時的に結膜炎を患っていたことに由来する。

よく彼のファンで「Let's Dance」や「Tin Machine」は商業的でダメだ、と厳しい評価をする方がいるけど、彼は常に商業的でエンターテイナーだった。そしてアーティストだった。「ベルリン三部作」など、常に新しさと表現の面白さを追求し続けた彼は真のクリエイターでもあったと思う。
