ゲーム音楽を語る＃69〜『Devils Never Cry』
I'm absolutely crazy about it!（楽しすぎて狂っちまいそうだ！）

どうも、けこぜろです。
新年度が始まって2週間が経ちます。
この春から仕事が変わったことを受けて、僕自身の生活も大きく変わりました。
社会人になってから11年間も昼からの非常勤の仕事を続けてきたのですが、ようやく今年の4月からは朝からのフルタイムの仕事になったのです。
ここに来てちゃんとした社会人になることができました。
これまでと忙しさは段違いですが、身体の方はあまり疲れてないのが不思議です。
逆に動かなさすぎて運動不足を感じてすらいますね。
そろそろ早起きしてランニングを再開させなきゃです。
フルタイムの仕事に変わって失われたのが、自由に使えるプライベートな時間です。
これまでがフリーダムすぎたのがアレですが、これが本来の社会人の在り方です。
自由時間を得るには遅寝したり早起きしたりして、睡眠時間を削るなりしないと得られません。
生活習慣を見直す必要があるように感じていますね。
さて、そんな新生活が始まった4月ですが、平日は仕事、休日はだらだらと過ごしています。
前回の休日は1週間ぶりにnoteを書き、その翌日は仕事の準備に充ててしまいました。
今日は通算4日目の休みとなるのですが、昨日は1日『ゼノブレイドクロス』を遊び、今日はnoteを書いたら仕事の準備のため買い物に行かなきゃです。
何だかんだで休日も仕事の準備をしなければならないのが大変ですね。
ということで、今回は中学生の頃にハマった『Devil May Cry 3』のエンディング曲について。
英語の歌詞をプリントアウトして下敷き状のファイルに挟み、それを読みながら何度も聴いていました。

『Devils Never Cry』は2005年のゲーム『Devil May Cry 3』のエンディングテーマです。
タイトルを訳すと「悪魔は泣かない」となっており、『Devil May Cry』シリーズ全体、今作のエンディングシーンの内容にリンクした印象深いタイトルとなっています。
今作の至る所で使用されているフレーズである、鎮魂歌のような荘厳で美しいコーラスに始まり、その後はパンクなロックと悪魔的でシャウトなラップ、それらを今作のバトル曲のフレーズに乗せて見事に融合させている楽曲です。
曲の後半になると再度コーラスがメインで復活し、激しいロックとラップが調和し、荘厳なラストを飾る曲となっています。
ゲーム内のエンディングでは、今作のキャッチフレーズの「I'm absolutely crazy about it!」というセリフと共にこの曲が派手に流れ始め、これをバックにヒロインと雑魚敵を蹴散らしまくるという演出になっています。
エンディング中に100体倒すとスタッフロール後にエピローグムービーが流れるのも印象的でしたね。
また、4月3日よりNetflixで配信されたアニメ『Devil May Cry』のエンディングでも『Devils Never Cry』が流れました。
アニメの設定も『DMC3』に近いこともありましたし、流れた時はかなり興奮しました。
アレンジはエンディングらしく落ち着いたものとなっており、これはこれで良かったですね。
Netflix版『Devil May Cry』は『DMC5』のネロの戦闘曲である『Devil Trigger』のアレンジも流れましたし、終盤は作業しながら流し見してしまいましたが面白かったですね。
まとめ
こんな感じで、ゲーム『Devil May Cry 3』のエンディングテーマである『Devils Never Cry』の紹介でした。
中学生だった当時かなりハマった曲で、歌詞をプリントアウトして下敷きに挟んで持ち歩いたりもしていました。
Netflixのアニメでもエンディング曲として使われていましたし、2019年に『Devil May Cry 5』をプレイした際、ダンテの戦闘曲をこの『Devils Never Cry』に変更したりもしていましたね。
どれも懐かしい思い出です。
