静岡新聞2026年4月25日「司馬遼太郎が開高健評す手紙見つかる、「日本語の改造心がけた」、神奈川県の記念館で来月から展示」を読みまして。
今回の静岡新聞の記事に掲載された司馬遼太郎氏の手紙には、示唆に富む言葉がありました。特に、開高健氏の文体を「日本語の改造」と評した点は、開高文学の骨太い表現力を物語っており興味深い表現と感じました。
司馬氏は、開高氏の文体にシャベルで大地を掘り起こすような「アメリカ語文体」の影響を見て取られました。確かに、その 現実に切り込む力強さは開高文学の一つの側面 に違いないと思います。しかし同時に、彼の表現の根底には、カミュやカフカ、そしてブレヒトといったヨーロッパの不条理文学が持つ、実存的な不安やシステムへの違和感 深く共鳴しているようにも私には感じられました。
現代のAI文化の急速な進展とアルゴリズムによる最適化先行は、表現自体の主体性を重要と考える者にとって、ある種の新たな「不条理」を突きつけているように思われます。司馬氏は、「掘鑿（くっさく）」 と言う表現で、「開高健」の文体を評されました。開高健は不条理な状況を独特の生身の文体で切り込んで周りの世界を腑分けをして行ったのだと思います。AIによってのみ作られる 文学と言うものに強い疑問を感じます。

Shiba’s description of Kaiko’s work as a "reconstruction of the Japanese language" brilliantly captures the sheer physical power of Kaiko’s works. Shiba observed an influence of 20th-century American style—akin to "turning the earth with a shovel"—which undoubtedly reflects Kaiko’s muscular approach to reality.
However, I perceive an equally vital pulse beneath his words: the echoes of European existentialism. The influences of Camus, Kafka, and Brecht are palpable in Kaiko’s deep-seated anxiety and his friction with the "system". He used his prose as an instrument for "excavation" (kussaku), dissecting a nonsensical world with a uniquely visceral, lived-in language.
In our current era, dominated by the rapid advancement of AI and the hegemony of algorithmic optimisation, we are encountering a new kind of "absurdity". For those who value the autonomy of expression, the rise of machine-generated text poses a fundamental threat. Unlike the soul-less efficiency of AI, Kaiko’s style was a product of human struggle—a deliberate "remodelling" of language to confront the inexplicable. I harbour grave doubts about any 'literature' born solely from an algorithm; true humanities must remain rooted in the grit (the gritty texture of the human spirit) and the relentless excavation of our lived reality.
