A selection of Papernut Cambridge songs performed solo by Ian Button and recorded live to 16-track as part of producer/engineer Shuta Shinoda's 'Tape Sessions' series at his rural home studio.

"A unique recording experience in my small home studio in the middle of nowhere, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire, recorded straight to vintage Studer A80 — no overdubs, no drop-ins, just live takes. The sessions breathe with their surroundings — church bells, deer calls, rain, even a lawnmower — all captured as part of the atmosphere."

"I jumped at the chance to work with Shuta on one of these tape sessions. I picked a selection of Papernut songs going right back to the first album, plus one or two new ones. I've played some of these live, just on my own, sometimes with a drum machine, but for some of these I wanted the recording to have a little more going on - we set up the guitar with some long spinning echoes, and also used the tanpura drone machine to get some background layers behind the chords. Then we mixed the tracks 'live' straight after recording, adding a few more dub echoes and reverb."
