André Derain
André Derain (17 June 1880 – 8 September 1954) was a French painter and sculptor.
He was one of the founders of fauvism, among with Henri Matisse, in 1905. His paintings of this time, from 1905 to 1908, have a use of colours typical of the fauvist style. After that he was influenced by Paul Cézanne and cubism. After the First World War, Derain was one of the painters of the Return to order movement.[1] He died when he was hit by a car, in 1954.
