Street circuit

The Monaco Grand Prix, held at the Circuit de Monaco, is one of the world's most famous races that take place at a street circuit.

A street circuit is a motorsport race track created using public roads in a city, town, or village, used for legal car races. Airport runways can also be used for street circuits. The facilities like the paddock, pit boxes, fences, and grandstands are usually temporarily installed, but larger things like the pits, garages, race control, and larger grandstands can be permanently installed.

Sometimes, racers complain that the surface is too bumpy, this is because the surfaces are designed for cars driving at slower rates. Another complaint about street circuits is that they are very narrow, don't allow for good overtaking opportunities, are slow, and can be dangerous.

Local governments may support these races because they can bring tourism to the area where they take place.
