What I Just Finished Reading
Marko Kloos, Angles of Attack: Pretty good mil SF; surprise background queer character -- an especial surprise when you consider that. I posted about this already. Basically, if you want a very readable mil SF series, you might want to read this series. Lots of stuff goes boom in entertaining ways.
What I'm Reading Now
This week in comics:
Squirrel Girl continues to be awesome; this week it was a bunch of putative origin stories narrated by different people. I particularly enjoyed the Cap team-up. Best comic, right here.
Secret Wars 1: I thought now that Avengers was over I would be spared the letdown of scanning the cast of characters to find neither Steve nor Tony's name, but... yeah, they aren't here. Which, given the way Avengers 44 ended, means that I guess I'm supposed to assume they are dead? Well, that was depressing. They're all dying, aren't they? Both universes! *sniffsniff* I mean, it was well-written and the art was beautiful but... yeah, that was really depressing. Come on, Hickman, are you going to bring them back? (I guess that isn't 616 Tony in the Ultimate End previews, then. Though I am perfectly happy to be proved wrong.)
(I am, however, here for Ults Tony hitting on 616 Carol ahaha yes IN THE MIDDLE OF FIGHTING HER. Carol was probably the best relationship he ever had in Ults and I totally supported it even though the suggestion of it in 616 kind of squicks me (there I friendship them hard). I think she was the only person he dated who wasn't actively trying to murder him. I understand that this ought to be a very low bar to clear but a lot of time he did not manage this. Poor Ults Tony.)
AND NOW BOTH UNIVERSES ARE DEAD DEAD DEAD. LET THE ADDITIONAL FACE-PUNCHING COMMENCE.
