Fannish 5 + questions
List your five favorite love triangles.
I'm not a big fan of love triangles, so let's see. I believe my answers will include things that are, ahem, non-canonical. Also, this is more like the Fannish Two.
1. Mac/Vic/Li Ann, from Once a Thief. This is my number one pick for fandom love triangle. Li Ann used to love Mac, but then she thought he was dead (or something; it's been a while) and ran off with Vic. So Li Ann and Vic love each other, and Mac loves Li Ann, who clearly has some kind of feelings for him still. Mac and Vic pretend like they hate each other and have awesome snarky banter, and all of them work for The Agency under the direction of The Director (this show sure spent a lot of time thinking up names), who wears low-cut shirts and USTs at all three of them. Plus she does things like send Mac and Vic to a strip club so that they can work on their partnership. And then they have shootouts with clowns on trampolines and people with chainsaws. I really have no idea why this fandom is not more popular. Did I mention that Vic is played by Nicholas Lea?
2. Bodie/Doyle/Ann Holly, from The Professionals. I'm counting it as a love triangle. Clearly I am still feeling the love for "Involvement," which I maintain is absolutely the slashiest Babe of the Week episode ever. Bodie loves Doyle. Doyle loves Ann Holly. He's clearly not just with her for the sex, and he does seem to want to marry her (although not before Bodie goads him into it). Bodie hates Ann, and is incredibly, incredibly jealous and keeps interrupting the two of them together, asking Doyle out, telling him he looks absolutely ravishing (no really! no, *really*!), and is willing to lie and say he likes her, let Doyle punch him in the face, do whatever it takes to make him happy. *sniff*
Um. Hmm. This is hard, guys.
3. Bertie Wooster/Jeeves/all the women Bertie has ever been engaged to. Bwahahahaha.
4. Peter Haldane/Jaelle/Magda Lorne, from Renunciates-era Darkover. Magda and Peter used to be married, and I think it starts out with him kinda still liking her and she's over it. Then she runs off to accidentally join the Renunciates (aka Free Amazons, awesome lesbian warrior society!) and somehow Jaelle (a Renunciate) falls in love with Peter. Meanwhile Magda figures out she's kinda gay. Then Jaelle figures out Peter's a jerk, runs back to the Renunciates, and falls in love with Magda. Then I think in the third book rocks fall and everyone dies. I don't know, I don't reread it.
5. Um. Uh. Sheridan/Delenn/Anna from Babylon 5. Not much of a triangle 'cause Anna's not really herself anymore. The other option is Sheridan/Delenn/Lennier, but that's just sad. I liked Lennier, dammit. Stupid S5.
Ooh, I'm getting the internet at 300 K/sec. Used to be 90 K/s. I think Verizon's upped my connection speed.
Yo, dS fen: Is there an episode of dS in which Ray Kowalski witnesses someone performing some kind of impressive physical feat and says "I could do that. I just choose not to." Or something along those lines. I can hear RayK (or at least CKR) saying it in my head and it's driving me crazy.
lysimache says it doesn't sound like RayK to her. Help?
Also, I cannot tell if this article from my school's paper today re: Prop 8 is the piece of homophobic trash that it appears to be or if it is some kind of satire that has committed an EPIC FAIL. The editorials around here are not usually especially, um, articulate, and I have read a lot of things that were really crappy attempts at satire. Because, well, it is really, really over the top, so much so that I thought it must be a joke, but it is very very not funny.
