Aw I didn't even notice there was an issue with my save right away, spent an hour going thru all my saves carcasses to sell a bunch and buy the last rifle I didn't have.

Bought it then noticed my maps/quests were not completed so tried all my saves from newest to oldest. All are dorked up, none showed completion which was done many months ago, on top of that my last save was also gone so now I can't even rebuy that rifle.

I think I need to take a break before I'm ready to redo weeks of work.

I’m really sorry. You shouldn’t have to replay weeks of progress because of this.

Please contact me directly through Discord or email and let me know which maps and missions you had completed, along with any important weapons or items you lost. I’ll prepare a recovery save that restores as much of your progress as possible and includes additional compensation for the trouble.

Unfortunately, I may not be able to reproduce every individual hunting record exactly, but I’ll make sure you don’t have to start those weeks of progression from scratch.

I truly thank you for the offer! However I will just replay them to get back to where I was, I really love the game and just hope I don't have to do this very often. I'm loving all the expansions and different things constantly being added to do.

I knew something was off because when I started the game up I was getting reward after reward for all these quests completed. At first I thought I was cheesing the system and getting tons of free money but only the first couple gave me any money the rest just said "so and so completed" but no reward. Took a while to get thru all those and I still hadn't noticed the save issue until much later when I reset the game saves.

As I said today on Discord, I have had exactly the same problem this morning, with the difference that only the two last saves were broken, so I "only" lost two days. But I'm astonished that I also have had like JustPorter the "reward after reward" thing, exactly in the same way. Besides, i must say that after recovering my "good" save, for a while the game did not save anymore, I had quit then restart the game and two times in a row I came back to the last corrupted save. On the third time, it finally updated the "good" save.
Strange that exactly the same behaviour come for 2 people, hope it is not a bug of the game itself ?

Well, i must say that I just restarted the game now and again, all I have made today and before is lost, all my achievements on "SUCCESS" and maps are lost !!!. Again, the only good save is the one from 15/09. But in fact, I so cannot progress in the game anymore. I think really the last update of the game is responsible of that, it is IMO the only possibility ! I mean the update from 16/09.

First of all, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

The behavior both of you experienced occurred because your game progression data was reset. The game then checked your existing items and statistics and automatically completed all missions whose requirements had already been met.

I currently believe this issue is related to Steam Cloud. I am also adding safeguards to the game so that it can detect potential problems with save files, notify the player, and provide appropriate recovery options.

For now, I recommend that both of you try the following:

1. Disable Steam Cloud synchronization for PROJECT HUNT.
2. Launch the game and use the save recovery feature to find a save file that still contains your correct progress.
3. Once you find a working save, save the game immediately.
4. Close the game, launch it again, and confirm that your progress is still intact.

If there is still a problem, select **Load Game** instead of **Continue** and check whether another working save file is available.

If you are not planning to change PCs anytime soon, I recommend playing with Steam Cloud synchronization disabled for the time being.

If you would like to enable Steam Cloud again, first complete the steps above. If Steam displays a cloud synchronization conflict and asks which files should take priority, you must select the **local files** so that your restored local save files are uploaded to Steam Cloud.

OK so I opened back up and seemed to have only lost a few days of cash, all my map progress was ok (going by kills on map) and all my perks there.

I was happy, played a while, manually saved (which I have done since day 1) and exited. I jumped back in later and it was back to the original issue, map progress lost and noticed all my earned perks were gone, only the banked ones (have 7).

I read your comment above and tried disabling cloud saves, loaded best one with some map progress at least, saved, exited, went back in and loaded the only save that shows (from minutes earlier), back to the "goal completed" messages and lost map progress again.

Just to check for corrupted local save issues I just tried backing up then deleting the local saves, turning cloud saves back on and grabbing them, loading one with map progress and all looked well again, manually saved and exited. When I came back in the map progress was lost again so that didn't help anything.

I’ll inspect the files, repair the save, and send it back to you.

After sending the files, there’s one more test you can try: start a new game, then use the save recovery feature from within that new game to restore your previous progress.

I quit the game, and when I re-launch, all what I have done is lost, only possibility is always to load a "good" backup, that is I'm stuck to 419 animals. Again, I lost just now about 2-3 jours of play. In total, on Steam I have played 63 hours, but in the game, I'm still on 43 hours with the "good" backup. So I have lost about 20 hours of play and cannot progress in the game. Never had such a problem with a game.
