Everything zoomed in after Alt-Tab
Basically the title says it all, whenever I Alt-Tab out of the game to look for information and go back to the game everything is zoomed in and looks much bigger than it should with the HUD not being properly visible.
I would guess it's a resolution issue but if anyone has any ideas why it's doing this it would be appreciated.

The game is meant to run in the same resolution as your desktop.
There is actually a function to change the field of view / zoom in so make sure you are not triggering that by accident.
use the "Win" key instead of alt-tab

Thanks for the reply. Tried what you suggested but the same thing happened when I went back in to the game.

It as because as "Bored Peon" stated, the game needs to run at the same resolution as your monitor is set at. if you do not want to see it happen, make sure they match or do not alt/tab out.

Thanks for the reply. Tried changing the game resolution to the desktop resolution and it still zooms in when I return to the game.

I have never had that happen. Are you running anything like a streamer program or something that may be hot keyed?
I had this problem too. It seems like disabling fullscreen optimizations fixes it. Right-click the Fallout4.exe file and select Properities. In Compatibility tab, check the box labelled "Disable fullscreen optimizations". (I did it for Fallout4Launcher.exe too, just in case.)
Likely the resolution incorrectly set itself when going back to the game. Need to quit the game completely and let it load fully into the game first. Don't alt tab while first loading the game.

I play at a resolution lower than my desktop. Desktop is 2160p, game is 1440p and I've never encountered this issue.

Among my installed mods are the community patches and enhancements listed below. Perhaps they can help you.

Fallout 4 Script Extender - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/42147
Buffout 4 - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47359
Unofficial Community Patch - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4598
High FPS Physics Fix - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/44798

It's a shame the game is still in the state that it is, but community patches are essential for stable gameplay. Setting these up on Nexus should only take 20 minutes tops.

Good for you, that changes nothing. Just because it worked that way for you does NOT mean it works like that for everyone else.

There is about a dozen people posting every month for the last eight years with this issue. Just because it works on your PC does not mean it is going to magically fix it for them.

Was that the part where you claimed your mods prevented it?
Or was it the part where you claimed there was mods to fix it?

Your mods did not fix it and there is no mods to fix the issue.
That is because it is a hardware setup issue.
In other words, just because your hardware and settings allowed does not mean that works for everyone else.

Of the mods I listed, a number of them initiate fixes and tweaks to the engine, window scaling, HDR capabilities, overall stability, etc... I never promised him an absolute solution, I only suggested that the community patches being as essential as they are, COULD help his predicament.

You on the other hand have provided no help besides "Yeah, game sucks like that. Get ♥♥♥♥♥♥." Lmao, bro's got an attitude for no reason. Either provide something worthwhile to the discussion or get lost. No one needs your poor attitude.
