Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition

STYLE SWITCHER MOD
LATEST UPDATE: 27 Feb 2017

STYLE SWITCHER FINAL IS OUT![www.nexusmods.com]

This mod allows you to switch styles on the fly (Like in Devil May Cry 4). It also adds new modes and features and fixes most of the issues with the game.

Installation
- Requires Visual C++2015[www.microsoft.com]
- Delete previous versions of the mod including GData.afs, if any.
- Copy and paste the contents from the bin folder into your Devil May Cry 3 folder and run install.bat.
- Select dinput8.dll if you play with a keyboard OR dsound.dll if you use a Xinput device (controller) and press enter.
- More detailed instructions in documentation.html

Latest versions out-right completely fix Xinput controller issues.

Pretty much. The only "downside" is that you can't use the map, character, equipment or item screen when it's active because the commands for changing the styles override those bindings.
And those are still there, they're just in the pause menu (and why would you need to access them anyway?)
best mod ever
Is there any other tutorial? Even though I followed this to the letter, DMC3 always crashes when I plug it in. It's not unless I COMPLETELY (including deleting ALL of DMC3's data) uninstall it that it begins to work again... and then when I reinstall the mod it stops working again.
Same for the Widescreen fix mod. Can anybody help?
What message do you get when it crashes? The game runs fine without the mod or anything?

If your game crashes you either don't have the correct .exe file, which is weird because Steam should've downloaded it (check the version of dmc3se.exe Properties>Details) . If you get the "The procedure * could not be located in the DLL DSOUND.dll." you don't have the Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 or the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010).

You don't need to unistall DMC3 completly to get rid of this mod, the final build is made so that you only need to delete 3 files and you're done. Back when it was first released it was a lot more complicated to install and unistall. Now Xdelta UI does all the compiling for you.

Actually, I don't get any messages. It just launches, then automatically shuts down without even going to the menu, as if I pressed Alt+F4 or something.
The game runs without the mod?
Do you have any other mod installed?
What version is dmc3se.exe?

If I installed the mod, the game only runs when I uninstall EVERYTHING related to DMC3. If I don't have it installed, it runs like... well, like DMC3. The version is 1.3.
So, when you install the mod your game gets completly screwed, so much that you have to unistall the whole thing and reinstall it so that it can run again? Damn. Never heard of that one. However, I think I might have an idea of what's giving you problems. I'll add you to try to give you more help.
game doesn't respond when I install this mod, no messages or anything.
Any idea as to why, I'm pretty sure I'm doing this correctly
Would you consider releasing a "fixes only" build for those of us that want to play this for the first time the original way?
Did you even try the mod? You can enable only the fixes.
I want to play it but i can't enter the game because of the error "The procedure * could not be located in the DLL DSOUND.dll"
But i delete it, the game start fine, the controller works but analogs and stick doesn't works but i fixed by changing the controls that i found on the threads here.
The only problem now is the graphics and video options, neither are read by the game, so the game start with the resolution i selected in the game options.
If i reput the dsound.dll it keep going with the The procedure * could not be located in the DLL DSOUND.dll error.

After installing the mod you can go to dmc3se.ini and modify the features you want. Let's say I want Air Hike (no weapon restriction) then I just enable that without having to enable the Style Switcher. The complete list of features and what they do is found in the nexus page of the mod.
