The Parable of Sonder
Somewhere out on a crowded street, a poor man is seen confronting another man walking by; dressed in fine clothing

"man of nobility, tell me.. have you ever felt a touch from the poor? Or have you ever felt the scent of our reeking flesh?
Would you care to give a proper meal for our mouths, just for this one day?
Or would you rather indulge all of which you have taken from us, and then taunt us, by spoiling your livestock like they're kings?
And so tell me, why do you neglect the ill-fortuned? For is it not true, that God has written, and ordained everyone's life, from the moment that they were born?.. But yet, you condemn us still..
And is it also not so, that the unfortunate have always been, and always will be?..
Then if our lives are fated to be this way, I must ask of you to be forthright.. For why is it that the rich only ever care for their own selfish end? and never for those destined to make a life out of dust?"

The other man being taken aback at what he hears, stands there in a moment of silence, looking back at the man with a sense of confusion but also, with intrigue; After having contemplated whether to engage with the man, he then begins to respond with his own words

"Why do you bother us so? For do I not hear, that you want us to be servants for the poor?
But let me ask you: can the each of you, not find a way to live, by the will of your own flesh? And that of my livestock.. tell me, what will be of them? if not for the hungry to consume?
Then why do you treat us as if we are meant to carry the burden for all the dread and despair of this world? For you speak as if the life you have been given is all out of your hands.. But again I ask - Is it not written, that we by God are given our own ability to save ourselves? From the troubles we face, and the troubles we create?
And truly, if it is as you say, 'that the unfortunate have always been, and always will be'.. then I ask you to answer me forthrightly.. For if you are to be fed for this one day... Then are you not to come back for one more?...
Then where will this ever end?!? For will the poor not always ask for more than they can have?"

After the spoken exchange, a man, with tears running down his eyes.. Was seen coming out of the crowd of bystanders that had gathered, for a moment he paused, and looked at the men, broken from the words he had heard from the both of them, and in return; with a trembling voice, offered words of his own, in order to the quelch the animosity between the two

"Why do the each of you treat the other as if he is the burden to salvation? Why do the both of you accuse the other to be at fault? For are we not the bones of each others bones? And the flesh of each others flesh? Do the each of you not utter the same words that cometh from God?... But how do you know it is not the words of the Devil? Is it not then, the distain that you two have for one another, that which is guiding you towards your own perceived liberation? Then I ask the both of you.. to tell us, and to tell us all... What will become of this world? If all were to find peace at the expense of the other?"

Not long after, rumours had spread of what had occurred in the towns nearby. Discussions arose within the synagogues, about the words that were spoken by the man amidst the crowd, questioning whether the man was a corrupter of prophets.. Or if he had merely offered words of clarity, where there had only ever been confusion

"Then where have we fallen short? For was it not told that those that are blessed by the grace of God, would be the ones to inherit the kingdom of heaven? like the pharisees here, and in our temples? Or rather.. that it would be the damned, like the outcasts or paupers, as proclaimed by the rabbi, that had recently died on the cross?
But what if we were wrong.. Blinded by our own self-righteousness.. When our humanity had revealed to us the truth long ago... That perhaps it was never meant for the poor.. nor for the rich.. nor for any other, to alone be worthy of the heavens... For imagine what could have become of our very world? That instead of one or the other being deserving of the heavens, we sought for the heavens to be here for us all?"
