Each time I return to this game the community seems to have gotten worse. From the average sore loser who can't take an L and have to flame to blame someone, to the typical "i didn't get what I wanted so I afk" baby and let's not forget the "it's quickplay" or "I am a smurf so it doesn't matter" players. At this point I believe the devs when they say EOMM isn't a thing.

I really enjoy playing the game with friends off of work, but the state just keeps getting worse.

Just with the new patch and the addition of Daredevil it shows the most. Everyone insta locks it as quickly as they can. That's fine, first come first served as they say. But the babies who just throw your games intentionally because they didn't get the character.

Next is the terrible matchmaking away from Ranked. It just goes by your level. I have stayed away from ranked due to this community just stealing my soul whenever I do play it and get matched with platinum players versus grandmaster and above. You'd think this is a once in 20 games scenario... Nah this is almost every 3-4 games.

The positives really don't out weigh the negatives at this point.

Despite being a "good" game. Meaning it is fun to play, even if you play solo. It comes with many faults through and through from the publishers and developers side.
When the game launched it had some issues (to be expected, but non less annoying to have) people not being able to play, bad matchmaking, review bombed for Microtransactions, which by all means are actually "ok" in this game.
We also shouldn't forget the awfully intrusive anti-cheat. Very deep level, outdated and people still gave the game a fair chance to play. Despite risky moves made. Overcoming all of these problems was probably hard but players gave the game a fair chance and actually enjoy playing it.

But then we get the typical -"Oooh you're having fun? Let us fix that problem for you" - reality check.
I've been playing this game on and off ever since they "fixed" their PSN problems, but here are some things that I cannot appreciate. The endless grunting and walking into one pile of dung into the next one (I am talking about the doxxing situation)

Aside from a toxic community in this game (worse than League, CS2 or COD), which doxxes people ruins their life and gets them fired over a charity challenge.
You as a player also constantly get the stick instead of the carrot.
What do I mean by that?

Throughout it's life time the game has gotten many new warbonds and updates to boot. These came with gameplay changes as all games should... But they weren't just quality of life, but also nerfs, changes to enemy factions and new enemies.
If you read this and say "Oh yeah? Seems normal to me" you would be right, but in this games case it's taking away from the fun aspect.

Nerfing weapons, because players use them a lot is one thing, but introducing enemies and types of enemies that would require said old unnerfed gun to have somewhat of a fighting chance is dumb. Reducing weapon damage to certain enemy limb parts (Charger Legs) so Helldivers can't use other weapons except highyield explosive weapon against it is also bad.
Adding a burrow strain to the Bugs and giving them medium armor, so running any primary with light armor penetration will make you pull out your hair. Saying we should use different weapons and make it mandatory to use specific weapons is again, dumb.
Adding a flying Biletitan, with bigger puke hitboxes, more damage and high mobilty seems fun at first, until you have them looming over you every 2 minutes after blasting one of em.
Having a giant boss worm, that impairs your movement while the hundreds of bugs around you don't get impaired.
Making it so that Helldivers can't spawn on highground with their pods and as a result locks the player from actually moving their hellpod freely. Aside from that removing the accuracy of the Hellpod in general when spawned in, so you reinforce in no-mans land or in the middle of a bug nest, which your teammates didn't throw you anywhere close to.
Having SEAF units and random air support, like the DSS strike, which both are killing you more than the enemy. (Also why do SEAF units have a Liberator with Medium Armor pen that we have no access to? Super earth??)

This is the infinite grunt playstyle in Super Helldive (difficulty 10 for anyone wondering). The best way to play this is to simply avoid combat, hence why most players in this difficulty opt to playing the Redacted Warbonds armors and weapons, to AVOID actually playing vs the AI.

Don't get me started on the god awful weapon upgrades you can unlock. It doesn't even matter which ones you put on the weapon. The weapon basically stays the same.

Enjoy the game on lower difficulties people. Then you don't have to run the same setup constantly to have an enjoyable time.

If you like interactive story telling, an immersive world, fun with friends, solo playthroughs as well as coop, a bunch of weird fantasy sexual relationships you dreamt while on some nasty acid. Yeah. This is the game.
Oh and if you feel like letting your intrusive thoughts win - this game also got you covered.
At this point stop reading, get the game, play it for 120h to finish a single playthrough and have some private time with a bear already!

I'm updating this review after I started playing this game again.
Surprising to me, it changed it's systems so much that I was positively baffled by the changes. In the beginning it had it's problems with being a grind Fest to get your gear to where you wanted it to be.
No it feels very simple and easy to manage. I can try out weapons, upgrade them, max them out and then try different builds by simply playing 1 or 2 rounds and getting resources.
That wasn't the case before and it made me stick around at the moment.

What annoys me is the way I have to unlock difficulties one by one by playing matches. This takes the energy out of my sails from time to time, but I look forward to trying the higher difficulty mission types.

For a free Battle Royal Game, I must say it has good gun play and the seasonal updates always bring something new and fun to the map.

Kill people with a catapult, have 1 teamkill in 30 kills. Get a toxic teammate smash the catapult and you. Rating: 10/10

Well, to be honest. I just watched the free episode and in my oppinion this has great potential. The visuals were fantastic! The aliens looked very interesting with their black Goo that can transform into anything they want ( if i got the Goo right). Haven't seen snake creatures with the power of mindcontroll and black goo transformers in any Movie/Series.
You don't really get to know a real protagonist in this, because it flashes from one view point to the next, but i think the Commander (played by Sigourney Weaver[hope thats spelled right]) goes for the main role here.
Hope we get to see more of OatsStudios-Volume Rakka soon. Good job and keep it coming I'd say.
And everyone who took the effort to read till this point without watching the 22 minute video... just go watch it.

I really enjoyed my first mission. It is made brilliantly and I really want to play this game with my friends. At the moment though. The game has some wacky game freezes/fps drops that make it difficult for me to play the game properly.
I hope you fix this soon! I would love to be able to walk 50 meters without having the game freeze.
But all in all the game is great. (Warhammer fan talking)

I like the fact that you have loads of play time and the hard game type makes it really facinating. But the multiplayer... good god. If i live in Europe i don't want to play vs chinese people that invade my world and not be able to kick them out. I meen great thanks for letting me play vs other people, but keep it in a profile without them being immune to my hits. Just a free death that way.

So i recommend this game for singleplayer. But keep out of multiplayers frustration, random "bulls***" !
