Maybe getting older and having a bone breaking full-time job now changed my stance on how long I'm willing to tolerate lazy, half-assed gaming slop priced at a AA premium. The game has a long way to go; I wish it the best effort for sure (gun media curse = no longevity?), but for now I'd rather keep my money and buy it later eventually again if it ever gets good.

Early Access Review
The game isn't worth 20$ in it's current state right now.

Despite 4+ years of playtests, the devs haven't fixed the core problems. They just added new ones.

Instead of hiring professional QA, they expect paying customers to beta-test their broken sh$t they constantly push on the live servers. "Early Access" is not an excuse for this. Honestly, a tiny 3-dev team is dangerously ambitious for a game this scale. It's destined to fail unless they hire more help or scale down.

Here is exactly what you are paying $20 for right now:

  • The New "Sisters" Monster: Completely unfun. Her entire meta is hard-camping objectives with broken mannequins that outclass the Magician’s imposters in every single way. Instant reactivation, unlimited reuse, maximum versatility mid chase and NO cooldown. Solo queue stands zero chance. Her heartbeat and footsteps are 99.9% muffled, and she makes zero noise coming out of mirrors. You don't notice her until she's right behind you. She needs an immediate rework. If this is only the second monster, the future looks incredibly grim.

  • Garbage Optimization: The game runs horribly, even on beefy, modern hardware like I have. The crazy part? It actually used to run better. Since the last public playtest, performance tanked and hasn't recovered a single bit.

  • Server Crashes & Zero Comp: Server stability is a total joke. Servers will straight-up sh$t themselves 15+ minutes into an intense match. You get booted to the lobby with no error code, no explanation, and ZERO rewards. Wasting 30 minutes just to get absolutely nothing because the servers are bad is infuriating and heavily disrespects your time.

  • Rollercoaster Of Emotions: The maps look pretty, but the collision is completely busted. Map assets have a very thick collision and hitbox. Hunters can literally glitch bunnies into walls or inaccessible areas, getting them permanently stuck. Hunters projectiles and bunny movement sometime often fail, due to the dense collisions the map assets have.

  • Boring, Unbalanced Gameplay: The core loop feels totally unrewarding. Mechanics are convoluted and heavily punish new players. There is zero pacing and zero tension, making matches feel incredibly slow and boring really fast.

  • Sweaty MMR System: Say goodbye to chill, casual matches. Win a few games, and the shockingly bad MMR forces you against super-organized, 5-stack comp bunny teams. It turns normal games into a sweat-fest tournament, which completely kills any interest in playing.

  • PR Disaster From Discord Moderation: The moderators on the game's Discord server are absolutely atrocious. They actively power-trip, step out of line and target-ban users they simply don't like. I was banned without a single warning prior just for mentioning that I use Vencord, a client-sided app modification that didn't affect their server whatsoever.

This discord server has no business trying to enforce Discord's platform-wide Terms of Service (ToS) on client modifications like Vencord, this is strictly an issue between the user and Discord, not the responsibility of some goofy glorified janitors running a discord server.

Ban Reason: Using Vencord goes against Discord's TOS. On behalf of Discord, we ban you from this official server.

The irony is that Discord itself rarely enforces that specific ToS rule because doing so would be a PR nightmare. This just proves for me personally that these petty mods are power-tripping and acting on personal grudges. They lack both the brains and the PR training to do their jobs properly, ultimately doing the game a lot more harm than good.

This was the final nail in the coffin for me, the disrespect from the devs and discord moderation team is too much and has finally killed my enthusiasm and support for the game I had over the years.

I'll update this review as they fix things. If they iron out the massive flaws AND apologize on behalf of their discord mods for stepping out of line, I might change this to positive.

But for now? Stay far away. It is absolutely NOT worth $20, and the "Early Access" label is just a pathetic excuse for the absolute mess this game is right now.

Personally not my cup of tea (the pokemon touch) and there are solid alternatives like rimworld. Definitely is one of those games just like rimworld that need the use of mods to be really enjoyable with all the quality of life fixes.

has crazy mod potential, also a extensive hl1 and scp inspired open world survival game? sign me in.

good game, well worth the 12 bucks I paid, takes about 100 hours to solo finish, 50 hours duo, only con of this game is that nobody is reaching over you with a hand for cues and I had to for 2-3 puzzles and areas google the walkthrough, otherwise we entirely played the game blind.

I grabbed the game on sale for 13.19$. It is a very nice game and cool introduction to W40K. The story is rather short, but very cinematic, not stretched or cheaped out at all, which is good!

The game is well refined and the highest difficulty "Angel of Death" not too hard to deal with for a seasoned gamer like myself hehe.

Only the end game boss fight got a bit too dank for my taste, my guy imurah is a brutal bullet sponge that throws skill check to skill check at you, which is not a problem to deal with after a couple of attempts, but with graphics effects set to the max the effects are quite distracting.

garry should concentrate on the game engine export function instead of roblox 2, sbox is only good for exporting source 2 games.

Basically adapted from this review as every point is valid: https://steamcommunity.com/id/markuslum22/recommended/590830

A summary list in no particular order whatsoever:

- Many Source 2 Tools and Mechanics were removed from the S&Box engine (The sole reason why people would use this game engine than anything else).

- As a Platform itself, it is filled with low effort games AND AI slop.

- Devs that make quallity and fun content leave, simply because they dont want to associate with this AI / Low effort platform and its community.

- The Sandbox mode is incredibly barebones and you can do only 10% of what you can alerady do in vanilla garry's mod.

- This game sells itself as the spiritual succesor to garry's mod, when in reallity its almost a 1:1 roblox ripoff that costs you 20$ to access (Facepunch tried to prey on their own community with that Garry's mod nostalgia, but failed and backfired miserably).

- The docummentation for the Engine is incredibly bad and unfinished (makes you wonder why anyone would develop and release an engine, when people can't even understand how to use it).

- As said earlier, this platform has a "playfund" system, where the games that get the most players get paid by Facepunch (the owners of this game), incentivising game devs to make and mass produce low effort addictive games just to get money instead of making fun and quallity stuff.

- The main player characters in this game that you will see in most games are straight up ugly and remove any charm like in Garry's Mod and the source characters. Sure, you can add new player models yourself, but that is ONLY for your OWN game. Most other games you join use these default sausage players because you can customize them with skins.

- Skins are way overpriced and were sold to people before release for way cheaper (these people that bought them are only here to make profit out of you).

- The community of this platform is filled with Crypto bros and Pro AI people, who talk constantly about the skins as if it were a stocks market (just so they can milk money our of you as the normal consumer).

- Incredibly toxic community with egos, where they don't want to help you when you have any questions about learning the game engine (because of the playfund and to the other devs, you are just competition that could take their players and money away with your own game).

- Very unfinished as a game itself overall (weapons don't even have reloading sounds as example).

- "No fees" Game exporting and publishing is very misleading on purpose, to people who are new to game development (If you want to export and publish a game, you HAVE to publish it on steam which will cost you 100$. Facepunch won't take a cut from it unlike another game engine like unity, but they never mention the steam feed anywhere on purpose).

- The S&box reddit isn't owned by Facepunch itself, which leads to power hungry mods and admins censoring and banning any critical opinions on this "game".

- Facepunch haas stated that they wouldn't do anything about the AI slop because "they can never know if something was AI made or not", when many times its incredibly obvious

- Devs tend to bot their own games to get more money from the playfund.

- Performance of the engine and the game itself is horrendous.

- You can't easily mount Source 2 games to S&box like you could in Garry's Mod.

- Theres a ton of toxic positivity saying that "this game will get better in some months / years, trust me bro it was just like Garry's mod", when in reallity this will die off very soon due to the reviews being so low (and that with good reason) and people being turned off from buying this. I mean, why should anyone build anything of quallity with this, if theres all of these issues right?

- The UI of this game is straight up a copy from the UI from Roblox. If you have played roblox for atleast 15 min you would see it right away.

CSGO is still superior to CS2. Valve dropped the ball and is giving CS2 the TF2 treatment right now. There is still no danger zone in CS2 and sub-tick instead of 64-tick from what i've heard are bad for the servers.

It is very nice piece of software that finally landed on steam. I can stop pirating it now and show some appreciation by paying up. My go-to partitioning- and migration software for my personal use and my family.

The game on hardcore is just pure pain for a first blind playthrough, it has the habit of not giving you the bare minimum of cues sometimes, so you now have to rely on the internet for more cues instead.

Capcom desperately sticked to the original formula and refused to add something as basic like dashing to evade monsters lunging 10 meters at you. I would hated to pay full price for that.

On life support and likely to exit scam soon. No communication between devs and community.
