Did you like KCD? If yes, this game is PERFECTION.

If you didn't like KCD, then KCD2 probably fixes the things you didn't like about the first one.

This game feels like a direct PERFECT upgrade to the first one. The map is practically 4x the size of the original, there's so much more to do and see, combat encounters feel fair, and are much less complex , with the removal of lower right and left attack swings in favor of a singular point to jab, stealth feels much more well explained and rewarding (almost to the point that it feels super broken at times). The sword play is better, and other combat forms feel better too - especially pugilism. Unarmed combat feels incredible. Did you know you can break shields with your bare hands? It feels INCREDIBLE. One big thing I recommend for unarmed playthroughs is that you download some mods to reinstate Unarmed Masterstrikes once you get far enough into the game that you'd like a bit more UMPH. The game really makes you feel like you can do basically anything well enough though, and there's tons of ways to play through it.

KCD2 is a game where you can be a knight in shining armor saving your damsel from constant distress, an assassin clearing out bandits like they're cockroaches, or - like me - an absolute psychopath going for a new high score of how many bodies I can pile into a home in Kuttenberg in the middle of the night before I intentionally wake up the final remaining member of the household by hucking a rock at his headboard, just so that he can feast his eyes on the flesh pile in his dining room that was once his family and a few passersby, shattering his psyche and obliterating any hope he had of a good night sleep for the rest of his life, simply because he negatively commented on the fact that I like going shirtless because Henry is hot and I'm playing as a pugilist. Bet you'll think twice before calling someone Sir Bare-Ass again, Master Bushek.

Some major quality of life fixes that were super important to me: Lip syncing is better, graphics are overall better, voice acting is better (I do miss the original voice actor for the surly priest, but the new one is a damn good alternative) Perks are way better in this game, and less of them interact in a way that prevents you from using another one. Everything about the combat, the armor, trading, exploration, questing, and dialogue feels so much better.

10/10 absolute banger of a game, Jesus Christ be praised.
