>spend 12 of my 40 hours meticulously organizing everyones inventory before every mission
>optimize every weapon, ammo, and backpack slot using 3rd party tools
>next conquest skirmish starts
>entire squad gets wiped almost immediately by some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 20mm autocannon in a difficult to clear position
>repeat
>I'm truly the cannon fodder's quartermaster

The ultimate RTS for autists stuck in the 40s.

Counter-Strike has been part of my life since 2006, the first time I ever played it. It’s honestly depressing to see the current state of the game. Valve’s vision has completely strayed away from what made previous titles feel so fulfilling, rewarding, and timeless.

This is, without question, the worst state Counter-Strike has been in for the past decades. After every update, there’s still a small part of me hoping they’ll bring back what made the series special in the first place. But the gameplay loop no longer feels built around brutal precision, consistency, or tactical depth. Instead, it genuinely feels like a casino designed to farm dopamine addicted children with no attention span.

Counter-Strike was never supposed to feel unpredictable. It was never supposed to feel inconsistent. Even something as basic as grenade throws somehow has issues now. Watching a .5% FaceIT Level 10 with 3K elo completely miss a standard mid smoke and ♥♥♥♥ the round because the server decided to completely ♥♥♥♥ itself at the exact moment he threw it is ABSURD.

What makes it even worse is hearing him confused in comms and having to explain himself afterward, frustrated and trying to figure out what he did wrong, because the best player’s mindset in Counter-Strike has always been to blame themselves first and improve. That’s what this game used to reward: precision, consistency and accountability.

How do you even manage to ruin something THAT fundamental in Counter-Strike?

It’s honestly insane that I used to complain about playing on 50 ping ADSL on some random Maxigames hosted 1.6 server back in the day, because somehow that experience felt more stable and reliable than this modern "polished" garbage pretending to be the future of CS.

At this point, it honestly feels beyond fixing. There is no future, and there is no alternative game waiting to replace it either. What’s funny is that years ago I wanted 1.6 back so badly, but then around mid-2015, GO started it's evolution into something genuinely incredible. It found its own identity while still respecting the core philosophy of Counter-Strike, and it stayed that way until they released this unfinished, avant-garde, decadent pile of trash.

The entire philosophy and soul are gone from the game. It became a polished but generic internally dysfunctional husk of it's former self on purpose because of standardization and wanting more and more mass appeal.
