Monster hunter world does some things right but many things wrong. I am going to go through an in-depth list of actions, experiences, and general game design in this review, I hope you'll take the time to read it.

THE PROS:
+ The graphics
+ Cool animations
+ The intro is really cool and draws you into the world of Monster Hunter. You feel like Hunter.
+ In the expansion, they added a grapple hook called the "Clutch Claw." It's really cool how the developers had the foresight to completely redesign all monsters in the game to react specifically for this item. It shows that the devs are going in the right direction, however.....

THE CONS:
Before we get into it, I want to say that Monster Hunter: World does many thing incorrectly that I simply can not forgive. As an avid monster hunter fan, it greatly saddens my soul that this game does so many thing incorrectly. I used to prowl the twitter of capcom everyday at 7am(JST/Japan Standard Time) to see if they would release a PC version of a monster hunter game as I could not afford a controller. I would then make my breakfast, which would normally be a piece of toast with peanut butter and jam. Sometimes, I would treat myself to bacon and eggs if the capcom twitter released some fanart of Monster Hunter but this was rare. My protein at this time was quite a bit lower as I was not getting my egg whites nor my bacon gainz. After breakfast, I would check the twitter again at 10am (JST/Japan Standard Time) to see if they would update it. I would then go and do the monster hunter workout, which is 3 sets of an overhead press with my palico, Mr. Sparkles (who was a little overweight at around 23 pounds), 100 situps, 10 eggsquats, and a raw egg potion to finish her off. My workout usually takes around 50 minutes, and I like to have lunch a little early. For lunch, I go to my local mongolian bbq buffet where I get extremely large plates of protein and hearty vegetable soups. So yeah, I'm pretty much the biggest monster hunter fan on this side of the 等々力渓谷 (Todoroki Valley River). For any of the misinformed out there, the 等々力渓谷 (Todoroki Valley River) is basically the Japanese Mississippi River. I'm a big fan. I'd like to see any of you challenge me in the arena. Be warned, I always get S rank ;). After all is said and done, let me tell you why I dislike Monster Hunter: World.

- It gives you way too much customization. I sat at the character creation screen for 7 hours straight, just trying to get my characters bust size perfect with her hair (I chose bangs). My perfect monster hunting wife was in creation, but alas, there was TOO many options. I'm still not happy with the creation of her yet. Classic analysis paralysis!
- Camera Controls. Hooo boy, here we go. The main problem I have with the camera, and this might be a controversial opinion, but I am certain that the more seasoned veterans of the series will know exactly what I mean when I say this, is that the player character has way too much control over the camera. It makes it seem like the hunter has a sixth sense! Only the monsters should have that, we are humans, and humans rely on technology, teamwork and science! I can see what the monster is doing too easily. The once immersive and scary act of fighting for my life against a monster three stories tall becomes a chore of swinging my mouse around in a quick 360 and assessing all hazards in what would usually take approximately 6 seconds. 6 seconds in a fight for your life could be the difference between hanging your head low and being carted away and victory. An exhilarating experience!.... taken away by the camera controls.
-Why is the greatsword slower than the great hammer? Dark souls has it right, the hammer should be slower and swing wider and do more damage. Why is it the opposite in this game? Bad game design. Don't fix what ain't broke.
-What's up with the lag? I bought a top of the line Dell computer in 2012 and it can't play this game! I bought that computer for 350 thousand ¥! (Please use this conversion website to see exactly just how much that is. https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=JPY&To=USD).
-Again. THE LAG!!! How did this get through beta testing! Where are the optimization patches? (we in the business call it a opt patch for short)
- The game's online is totally dead at 3am in the morning, the only time I can play. Why? Capcom really blew it when it came to marketing in America.
- Sometimes, grass and mountains wouldn't render, and other times the sound would be absolutely gutted, a loud screeching would come out of my 7.1 DOLBY speakers, awakening my neighbors (I am playing at 3am). I have since moved.
- The game is stuck in Japanese! I can't read Japanese!
- The voices are too! What the HELL we're they thinking?!
- It's the hardest game in the series. Seriously! I'm a hardcore gamer, but this is ridiculous.
- LOADING TIMES!!!! Need I say more? I thought playstation loading times were bad...

Those are my grievances with the game. They were so close to making the perfect Monster Hunter experience. A Monster Hunter World, if you will. Truly, a hunt to remember. Unfortunately, they did not close and the DLCs were a step in the right direction, but ultimately too little too late. Do I still check the Capcom twitter? Sometimes.... Sometimes. It's not the same anymore. I think I'm finally growing up and I'm getting sick of being disappointed. I tried to mail a bomb to Capcom HQs, but the UPS caught it. They thought it was a novelty item and I wasn't charged (thankfully). Us gamers need to rise up against our corporate overlord oppressors. Vote with your wallet, try before buy! If that doesn't work, then capitalism must die!
Stay frosty,
BIG ♥♥♥♥.

My name is Yunek Moore. I am a Black woman, a college graduate, and a survivor of police brutality. I’m choosing to tell my story because, sadly, this wasn’t the last time something like this happened to a person of color in Peoria, Illinois, and that must change.

On June 4, 2013, I was a happy 17-year-old looking forward to attending college at Millikin University. I had just graduated high school, where I was ranked 11th in my entire class and spoke at graduation as one of my final duties as Senior Class President.

That night, I was at my friend Cipriana’s house, where family and friends had gathered to celebrate our graduation and Cipriana’s departure for Army basic training. We were having a bonfire in the backyard, eating s’mores and drinking Capri Suns.

As I sat in a lawn chair, a bright light suddenly shone in my eyes. I thought someone at the party was using their phone’s flashlight or had turned on the backyard light, so I put my hand up to shield my eyes and politely asked them to stop pointing it at me. The person ignored my request and asked for my ID. Confused and still unable to see anything, I asked the person why she wanted to see my ID card. She never answered or stated who she was.

Instead, I was yanked out of my chair by what turned out to be three police officers, two men and one woman.

The officers grabbed me by the wrists and twisted my arms, then dragged me to the front yard and slammed me up against the brick house. I thought they were going to break my arm and I told them they were hurting me. The male officer responded, “Shut the hell up!”

I was handcuffed, then dragged across the concrete driveway, thrown onto the hood of the squad car, and searched. As my friends came up to ask why this was happening, the officers screamed at them, “Get back!”

The officers shoved me into the back of the squad car, punching and pushing my body. I gasped in pain as I sat awkwardly in the back seat, scared and stunned that this was happening. Not once did anyone tell me why I was being arrested or what I had done wrong.

At this point, my right shoulder was in excruciating pain, my right knee was swollen, and I had swelling and cuts on both my wrists. I was taken to the Peoria County Jail, where I asked for medical attention, but was denied. I was held until 5:30 a.m. the next day, when they finally let my mother pick me up.

Later, I learned I had a torn labrum in my shoulder and an incapacitated wrist, which — combined — required three surgeries, steroid injections, and physical therapy over the next several years. My entire right side was immobilized and one doctor said that my injuries looked like what football players might have after years of being tackled.

Beyond my physical injuries, this experience has taken a huge toll on me mentally. I’m now fearful of the police, and I constantly worry that something like this could happen to me again.

There was nothing illegal happening at the party. Yet I was arrested and cited for “resisting or obstructing a peace officer.” The officers said they entered the backyard out of concern for the safety of those at the party, but the only danger anyone faced that night was at the hands of the Peoria Police Department.

These past six years, my family and I have witnessed how little accountability there is for police officers in Peoria. Without accountability, the unnecessary and excessive use of force I experienced will continue to happen to others.

Our city is no stranger to the kinds of headlines about fatal police interactions that we see across the country. We all know the tragic story of Eddie Russell Jr., who was shot 17 times by the Peoria Police Department despite their knowledge of his history of mental health crises.

It’s time we fight for justice for our fellow community members and demand real reform in the Peoria Police Department.

So I can only give this game a 7/10, was pretty good.
