Early Access Review
Just beat the entire game, and for what it is now I enjoyed it a lot. This game def has a bright future especially if they implement other things from the runescape universe correctly. It can be compared to valheim in a sense for a majority of the aspects but it could have the potential to be a huge game in the future if they focus on good updates. Overall 9/10 as it stands currently.

The Forest is a survival horror game, in which the player has to survive in an island infested with cannibalistic mutants. The game starts with your character and his son crash landing in a plane. Your son is then taken by the mysterious man in red. The player must use the resources on the island to not only find your son, but survive.

There are many tools available for the player to use, all found in the players best friend; the survival guide. In the pages of the survival guide, players will have access to all kinds of tools and structures. Everything from log cabins, gazebos, walls, catapults, water collector, drying racks, noose traps and even effigies made of human remains can be found in the survival guide. Players can build everything by collecting resources from the island such as rocks, logs, sticks, leaves, turtle shells and even bones. These structures and tools help defend the player against waves of cannibals.

The sound of The Forest is atmospheric and scary. Nothing is more terrifying than quietly cutting down a tree and suddenly hearing footsteps running towards you. The art design and how the island looks and feels work wonders for The Forest. The island feels like a living breathing thing the longer the player is on it. Even the trees have a tendency to look like people. The graphics are not the best, but for an alpha build it fits quite well. The game is littered with bugs but those will be patched out, however the bugs do affect the immersion.

The story of The Forest is slightly hidden, only being revealed when the player finds photographs, drawings or magazines. The story overall, is fantastic, however, not much is official even after the release of the "ending." Fan theory's and speculation aside, the backstory remains a mystery, while the main story is fairly straightforward.

Overall, The Forest does a lot of things right:

The story is rich

Genuinely scary

The multiplayer is solid and fun

The building mechanics work well

The enemy's have variety

The enemy AI can be extremely clever

Atmospheric

Wide variety of tools and weapons

Weapons and tool modifications can be applied

The Forest does a few things wrong:

Extremely buggy

Enemy AI can be buggy

The ending can be confusing to some

Can be slow to start

Sometimes difficult when playing alone (more so on hard mode)

Have an awesome day!
