UPDATE: After finishing the game 100% I can say this game is a solid 6/10. I have no idea why they couldn't come up with more puzzles for the purple variant. Some of them were actually chores to do. The regular ending is very cool. The extra ending is very underwhelming. Wish they added more puzzles. Wish they were more creative. Super frustrating at times, I kept joking with my partner saying it felt like the devs turned evil mid development of the game and went "How do we make the rest of the puzzles as boring and tedious as possible?". Anyway, a positive experience, but I wouldn't recommend.

I will say that this is definitely a fun game to play with your partner or friends. However, right now, I can't fully recommend it, as there are a few things that made the experience less enjoyable than it could be.

The performance can get pretty stuttery, even on an average-to-high-end PC, especially when you venture deep into forest areas. This seems to get even worse when you go crazy with lanterns/flashlights and start creating more and more shadows. I feel like the foliage could use some optimization as well. I understand that the messy, dense vegetation is supposed to give you that feeling of being "lost," but there is a point where it becomes more frustrating than immersive.

Another thing I didn't like is that the game gives you all these useful tools, but then doesn't really let you carry them with you during your journey. Why can't we carry more tools on our belts? Why can't we quickly swap tools in and out? I don't know if this is the intended way the developers want the game to be played, but not even being able to pull out my own walkie-talkie from my belt or the gourd from my backpack is incredibly annoying, especially when you have to split up for a challenge that requires the team to be in different places at the same time.

This also affects the experience at night. Right now, nighttime feels less like an atmospheric gameplay mechanic and more like an inconvenience because of how ridiculously dark it gets. I honestly wouldn't blame someone for treating nighttime as a nice little "break" to sit back and scroll through TikTok or something.

If the intention is realism, then the glowing eyes on the players already kind of throw that out the window. And if it's supposed to be atmospheric, I think there's still room to make it more enjoyable to actually play through. Moonlight exists, and it does help with visibility in real life, so I'd love to see the developers experiment with just how dark nighttime actually needs to be.

Last but not least, you can get stuck on so many things while hiking up a mountain. I understand that this is probably there to prevent players from bunny-hopping their way out of bounds or reaching places they aren't supposed to, but sometimes you can trip on what feels like a tiny pebble and suddenly your character can't jump or move forward. You're forced to backtrack a few steps and try again. It's a small thing, but it happens often enough to become really annoying, and I think it definitely needs to be looked into.

Other than that, the game is really fun to play with other people. The challenges range from "easy enough" to "what the hell is it asking us to do?" to "just try anything and pray it works," with some genuinely good brain scratchers mixed in. Figuring things out together is definitely where the game shines.

The visuals are also really pretty, especially during sunsets and when morning comes around. Again, I don't have many good things to say about nighttime, but the daytime scenery can look fantastic. The music is another highlight. There are some really good bangers in here, and the soundtrack does a great job of adding to the experience.

If you can overlook the performance issues, clunky controls, and low visibility, I would recommend giving this game a shot if you have a fun group of friends to play with or a special someone you enjoy spending time with.

Hopefully, some of these issues get addressed, because I think there's a really fun game underneath them.
