I have played every Silent Hill game beside Downpour, and Silent Hill f is a bold, risky, and extremely strong new approach that still feels completely true to the soul of the series.

Even though the setting was not instantly my favorite, this game feels deeply like Silent Hill. The uncanny atmosphere, psychological tension, symbolism, and oppressive tone are all absolutely there. The story is intense, disturbing, and emotionally heavy, easily on the level of the top tier Silent Hill titles.

One of the strongest aspects of the game is how combat and difficulty are thematically connected. This is not just gameplay for the sake of gameplay. It directly reflects her fear, suffering, emotional pain, and fight for autonomy. Her struggle against enemies mirrors her struggle against forced marriage, strict social expectations, and abusive parents. The mechanics serve the narrative, not the other way around.

At first, combat feels difficult and overwhelming, but after some time, you learn to read enemy behavior, and it becomes very satisfying and fun. The difficulty feels intentional and meaningful, not frustrating.

Now about the backlash.
A lot of criticism clearly comes not from actual game quality, but from discomfort with a women centered narrative. Let’s be honest, this is, by definition, a woke game. But that is nothing new, especially in survival horror. Early survival horror games were already deeply woke, dealing with trauma, abuse, identity, mental illness, repression, and social injustice.

It is honestly strange to see grown men getting upset about women taking the lead in a genre that was always strongly shaped by female characters and feminine psychological horror.

Silent Hill 3, one of the best entries in the entire franchise, is also built almost entirely around female identity, bodily autonomy, fear, and emotional trauma, and it is universally praised. This approach is part of Silent Hill’s DNA, not a modern trend.

Silent Hill f is a strong, daring evolution that stays faithful to the series’ psychological roots. This is not a game you just play. It is a game you engage with, analyze, and reflect on. You truly have to engage deeply with it, think about its symbolism, themes, and emotional layers to fully understand it.

If you do, you will find one of the most powerful and meaningful Silent Hill experiences to date.

Silent Hill 2 was one of the most life changing games for me, and this remake is everything the original was, but better. The story might be one of the most depressing and haunting experiences, but its also one where, for nearly the first time in gaming, a protagonist is depicted as human through and through. James journey with his guilt and acceptance is truly one of a kind.

The original had its uncanny feeling due to its technical limitations, but the remake has its own atmosphere. I must say, its a better depiction of James and the entire story. If youre experiencing it for the first time, I argue the remake is the superior way to do so.

The graphics are beautiful, the soundtrack haunting, and the pacing is perfectly executed. I really hope Bloober can continue making more remakes like this, because its the best Remake Ive played since Resident Evil 2. While it stays nearly identical to the original, it does have a few changes here and there, but all of them are for the better. Also, phenomenal voice acting and the depiction of trauma I cant comprehend how the voice actors, especially James voice actor, could deliver such an insane performance.



I honestly cant say anything negative about this game. Its pure perfection, and I think everyone should play this absolutely life changing masterpiece.
