Create accounts on Android 4.4 & lower versions

You can't create a Google Account from the Settings app on Android 4.4 and lower. If you try to create an account from the Settings app, you may get a username or email address error. Learn how to check your Android version.

Create an account with your device’s browser

Important: You can still continue to sign in to your existing account from Android 3.0 to Android 4.4 versions. We recommend that you update your device to Android 5.0 or later, if possible.

If you can’t update your device to Android 5.0 or later and must create a new Google Account to use with your device, you can do so in your device's browser.

  1. On your Android device, open your browser.
  2. Go to accounts.google.com/signup.
  3. Follow the instructions to create a new Google Account.
  4. Add the account to your device.
