You can record your face and voice to create your personal avatar in Google Vids. Once you’ve created your personal avatar, you can make AI videos. You’re in control of where your personal avatar is created and used.
What you need
This feature requires an eligible Google Workspace subscription. Learn about Gemini features and plans. To create your personal avatar, you must:
- Be 18 or over
- Have a Google Account and mobile phone or tablet
Important:
- Personal avatars are currently not available in the EEA, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom.
- Personal avatars are currently only supported in English.
Create your personal avatar
To create your personal avatar for the first time:
- On your computer, open Google Vids.
- In the start menu, select Personal avatar.
- With your smartphone or tablet, scan the QR code.
- To record your face and voice, follow the screen prompts on your phone or tablet.
- Click Next.
- On the side panel, your personal avatar displays as an avatar for your AI video clip.
- Enter a prompt that describes how you’d like to incorporate your ingredients by referring to the objects, styles, or people. Learn how to get best results generating video clips.
- Click Generate.
Tips for recording your face & voice
To make sure your recording is accepted, follow these tips:
- Phone position: Hold your phone at eye level.
- Lighting: Use lighting that is not too dim or too bright.
- Visibility: Ensure your eyes, nose, and mouth are visible. Glasses are fine to keep on, but no sunglasses, masks, or hats.
- Audio environment: Choose a quiet area to record your voice. There should be no other voices in the background.
- Background: Check that there are no people or images of faces in your background.
- Account owner: The account owner must complete this process. Do not allow minors to record themselves.
- Selfie directions: Follow the prompts to perform an action. After you turn your head in one direction, turn your head back to the center.
Use your personal avatar with Omni in Google Vids
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- In the right rail, select AI Video

- Select your personal avatar.
- Enter a prompt that describes how you want to animate your personal avatar in the video. Include details of how the subject should move, speak, or sound. For example: "Show me walking in a sunny street."
- Optional: You can add a script, select portrait or landscape, or add more ingredients to the video. Learn how to use AI avatars in Google Vids.
- Click Generate

- Optional: Once your video is ready, you can select these available actions:
- To insert your video in a scene, click Insert

- To remove your video from the feed, click Remove
.
- To add more actions in your video, click Extend
.
- To continue your video edits, click Edit
.
- To reuse your prompt and ingredients in a different way, click Recreate

- To insert your video in a scene, click Insert
Learn how to retake & delete your personal avatar data
You can retake or delete your personal avatar data at any time. This updates your Google Account information, so other services, such as the Gemini App, also update their use of your personal avatar.
- From the right rail, select AI Video

- To find options, on your personal avatar, click More
.
- To capture your face and audio again, select Retake.
- To delete your personal avatar, select Manage.
- This affects other services you give access to your avatar, such as Gemini App.
- The system redirects you to your Google Account page where you can delete your personal avatar.

Google Workspace with Gemini is constantly learning and may not be able to support your request.
