So, Where Are You in Your Character Art Journey?

I'm learning the fundamentals. Sculpting, modeling, still finding my footing.

I've made a few things but nothing I'd put in a portfolio yet.

I have portfolio work, but I know it's not where it needs to be.

I'm working professionally and looking for targeted improvement.

Where are you at with 3D character art right now?

I have a picture in my head but once I'm in ZBrush it falls apart

I jump into details way too fast and lose the big picture

I make progress but run out of steam before anything's presentable

I work through it, but I'm never really sure if what I'm making is good enough

I know what I'm doing. I just want sharper eyes on my work.

I look at a few images for inspiration and then start sculpting from feel

I collect a lot of reference but I'm not sure I'm really studying it

I keep reference open while I work, mostly matching what I see

I break down reference to understand how things are actually constructed, materials, seams, weight, all of it

I don't use reference as much as I probably should, honestly

I usually start over or move on to something else

I zoom in and try to fix the specific part that bugs me

I keep pushing at it but I'm not always sure what I'm actually fixing

I step back, try to figure out the real problem, and rework from there

I tend to skip it and focus on a part I'm more comfortable with

A few blockouts that never got past the early stage

Projects that got to 60-70% and then... sat there

Finished pieces that I know aren't hitting the bar I want

Solid work that just doesn't seem to land when I post it

I don't even know what to look for yet, honestly

I can see the quality but I can't figure out how they got there

I know what's different technically. I just can't seem to close that distance yet.
