- So many times I saw my mother try to convince her that she was abused - and it has worked. Some day, I hope Dylan can escape from my mother, confront the truth and begin her own healing. #truthislouder
- My sister, Lark, adopted from Vietnam, died on Christmas over a decade ago at age 35. HOW MANY SUICIDES IN ONE FAMILY DOES IT TAKE BEFORE SOMEBODY LISTENS AND HELPS ADOPTEES STAY ALIVE? @afspnational #truthislouder #keepgoing
- Iâm deeply saddened for my sister. As she stated, this has been her reality since childhood. I have broken my silence of the abuse by our mother and my healing began after getting away from her. I can only hope that my sister can do the same to finally heal. #truthislouder
- What breaks my heart the most is while I know that my sister, Dylan, believes what she says, I also know from my own experience, that it simply never happened. #truthislouder
- On her birthday today, let's all honor my sister Tam's life and death by bringing awareness to the issues of the adoption suicide crisis, mental health crisis, adoption trauma, racial trauma, disability discrimination, colonization, modern slavery and #adoptiontrafficking
- Thaddeus would be 34 today, but he ended his life violently and alone in 2016. I am saddened to think of the pain he endured being bought and removed from his native country, the loss of his native family, and never knowing his true heritage. Happy birthday. #irememberthaddeus
- Seeing Dylan walking down the driveway at our motherâs house during her interview, Iâm faced with my own childhood abuse. ronanfarrowletter.wordpress.com/2018/01/04/mosâĶ #truthislouder
- Itâs been 6 years since my brother, Thaddeus, died by suicide. The fact remains that the fantasy the adoption industry continues to thrive on minimizes, ignores and invalidates these premature deaths. Itâs time to #rethinkadoption #SuicidePreventionMonth #truthislouder
- I continue to speak up for my sister Tam whoâs birthday was last week. She died from an overdose in 2000. One suicide is one too many. Shouldnât we all agree on this? #SuicideAwareness #truthislouder #IRememberTam
- Continuing to raise my voice to shine a light on the truth of adoption trauma. So grateful to those like @meghan_daum who amplify my message that we all need to be saving adoptee lives. #adoptiontrauma #truthislouderThis week on @TheUnspeakPod: therapist @MosesFarrow talks about his work around "adoption trauma," growing up in a famous family, how savior complexes can lead us to romanticize adoption and, most of all, how to help adoptees survive and thrive. theunspeakablepodcast.com/podcast/episodâĶ
00:00 - As I'm facing the lingering psychological and emotional effects of child abuse, I'm sadly reminded of the painful memories of my 3 dead siblings, last of whom shot himself just the next town over from where our mother lives. Futures that will never be lived. #truthislouder
- When you tell your transracially adopted child "I don't see color" you're ignoring their racial identity, their racial origins and participating in racial oppression and helping them develop internalized racism. #truthislouder #racialtrauma #BIPOCMentalHealthMonth
- Remembering Tam on the anniversary of her birthday. Taken from her homeland, blind, and raised in an abusive home is more than one should have to bear. RIP Tam
