Currently rewatching TVD and The originals, I watched the show initially with my big brothers and I loved it. I must say episode 12 & 13 have been on a roll from just how good they are. But here's sth I noticed that I think is a plot hole: Damon compelled someone in episode 12 in order to quickly find Abby Bennett's file but somehow Klaus came to find out about this from an awfully chatty deputy in that office. I understand this was an off screen storyline but I just find it odd that Damon would be sloppy and leave a trail like that. I think Damon would memory wipe them so that's sth that doesn't make sense to me!
Also I find it ironic and slightly cringey Damon's dialogue in episode 13 during the dinner between the Salvatore brothers and Mikaelson brothers. I get the gag of Damon , having to be the peacemaker for once to Stefan's, being the chaotic brother but I cringed cuz idk, that's not the Damon I'm used to. So it just feels like that's not him. Yeah, the dialogue feels like a character betrayal to Damon. It was a lame distraction, I found their negotiations to drag and a bit more like a juvenile word cat fight!
Episode 13, was an almost perfect episode cuz we were getting a lot of story arc payoffs. The rest of the Mikaelsons finding out about what Klaus did and Klaus facing the repercussions of that, Caroline's dad choosing death over being a vampire ( chef's kiss this is so inline with his character! Also I found it to be an allegory for racism, queerness and generally any marginalised group), Abby's undercooked B-storyline of her accepting her guilt for abandoning her daughter which helps her complete the spell with Bonnie and finally a great cliffhanger at the end, I just found flipping between the Mikaelson family storyline and Caroline loosing her dad as off and confusing! I feel like these 2 moments needed to be in different episodes only because they're so different tonally, I couldn't help but feel emotionally whiplashed having to go between them. Like that's a lil bit of too much all at once.😭😭
I don't quite remember the basic rules of TVD regarding the resurrection of werewolves who return as humans in the case of werewolf/vampire hybrids. Would this work with a first-generation werewolf? Like the Hollow's mother, for example? Would she return as a witch or as an untriggered werewolf? I'm a bit confused about this.
Theory one is based on the feat I've seen people describe as Dahlia 'turning humans into witches'; from the scene where she faces Mikael and Klaus and humans appear who she says she gifted a fraction of her own power.
In this universe, channelling is something normal witches can do to pull power from external sources to empower themselves or their spells/rituals.
My theory about this is Dahlia just did the opposite, a 'reverse-channelling': she sent her own power outwards and used the bodies of her 'acolytes' as conduits for her power—letting her use their bodies to attack Mikael and Klaus from different angles all at once, instead of only her own body.
Theory two is about her 'pseudo-immortality' spell works.
In TVD, there was a witch called Gloria who used magic to slow her ageing; she was 110 when killed, yet looked only 40.
Also in TVD, the so-called 'indestructible white oak stake' was made so when Esther melted down a Gilbert Ring and bound its protective magic to the stake; rendering the stake indestructible by conventional means.
I think Dahlia's spell was just a more powerful version of these two things combined into one spell.
Dahlia wanted it to be immortal without losing her magic, so this theory would explain why she alone couldn't maintain the spell forever, and why she put in the 'slumbering for 100 years then ageing for 1 year upon awakening' aspect; the slumbering was time used to realign and recharge her spell.
I think this explains how it works; she is NOT technically immortal, so doesn't lose her magic like normal witches do when they become immortal. With this, she doesn't age and can't be killed by conventional means; so effectively immortal, yet not technically immortal—she didn't use an immortality spell, but combined two spells into one spell that works like immortality.
It's shown in canon that werewolf-vampire hybrids don't merge the two sides; them channelling their werewolf power to increase their speed and strength beyond just their vampiric power.
Klaus in a flashback in TVD and Hayley in 'The Originials' both had their werewolf side bound; if both were fully merged into one, then their vampire side would've been bound too, but since Klaus still lived over 1000 years after his binding, that's obviously not true. While some might excuse Hayley's age, as she wasn't turned that long ago, or her non-Original status at making each occasion different, Hayley's death also shows it applied to her too; her wolf side was bound by either a witch serving/an item used by, I can't remember which it was, a group of vampire purists who also didn't believe in use of daylight rings,
The leader was going to target Hope next, so Hayley sped them into daylight, killing the leader and herself to protect her daughter—if both of Hayley's sides had been merged, then she'd have either died instantly when the binding was done, or she'd have been effectively human, so wouldn't have been affected by daylight.
My theory uses this: perhaps Lucien's venom was designed to bypass extra sides and specifically target the vampire side.
Lucien needed a venom that could kill Klaus too; if it couldn't kill Klaus, but did kill his vampire siblings, then Klaus would never let Lucien be safe.
Yes, Lucien was shown to be much more powerful than Klaus after becoming an Upgraded Original, but that wouldn't guarantee Lucien's safety forever; Klaus would be angrier than ever, and is ruthless—especially to those who target his family. Witches have founds ways to take down even the most powerful non-witches, like Silas, Mikael, Klaus just to name a few; so it's not like Klaus couldn't recruit witches to help him take down Lucien, then either find a way to kill him, or just make him suffer for all of eternity. Klaus has recruited witches for tasks in the past after all.
So Lucien would have a motivation to ensure it could kill Originals who are also more than just Originals.
I was wondering on the hybrid page it’s got the related species listed and it’s not got Angel or malach listed as related because characters in the books like Elena are human angel hybrid and Caroline is a werewolf malach hybrid is it because thay are book species and are not considered canon or something else
The TVD Wiki Family would like to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of L.J, Smith who sadly passed away earlier this month.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those who mourn her loss, as does the wider TVD Family.
L.J., thank you for introducing us to your world, for without you this wiki, and the passion shared by all of the fans, would not have been possible.
Were they published by a ghostwriter of by Julie? Because on the books it as created by Julie please based on the vampire diaries while the Stefan diaries which is written by a ghostwriter and say BASED off the L.J smith novels and the TV series. I’ve also seen mostly everywhere online say she is the author and/or created by her and she is credit as an author on the books so I just wanted to know if it was a missed thing here or am I missing something
Why is he actually in the show post season 3? In the first 3 seasons of the show he actually has stuff to do, but after they bring him back, I honestly don’t think he does anything. Can someone explain this?
The only reason why Tom and Elena would be the last in the petrova and Salvatore Doppelgänger bloodline is because Silas and amara died right so there would be no use for more?
The powers and abilities section used to be waaayyy longer and more informative and now there's like barely anything...
What the deal with this world? From what I can remember Hope and Josie go there but it’s never really explained that much and kinda forgotten pretty quickly. Does anyone mind explaining it for me.
The Mikaelsons as characters are perfect, honestly the best in the series but I feel they don’t work as being the first Vampires. The reason for this does sound stupid but it’s because they aren’t old enough, as the writers kinda gave the proper old one age and title to Silas and Amara who are technically the first vampires. Even when the Mikaelsons meet Silas he beats them pretty easily and he’s not even at full strength, which kinda takes away from the idea that the Mikaelsons are the first and most powerful vampires even though that’s not the case.
So I’m curious about klaus being able to become a hybrid without having doppleganger blood to start instead it was his “first kill” that activated his curse. I am aware that Esther used doppleganger blood to turn her kids into vampires but they still needed to drink just normal human blood to complete the process. For klaus though in order to make any new hybrids he needs a human doppleganger to complete the transition so why didn’t he need a human dopplegangers blood to complete his transition and just a normal kill?
Did the wedding ritual only serve to pass control of the wolves' transformations through Hayley or were physical abilities also passed on? I saw a post on social media that the ability to control transformations was only passed on if physical abilities were actually passed on. Is it possible that in the future, in two or three centuries, wolves will have the standard physical abilities of non-original hybrids like Hayley?
Are vampires only hurt by one species of vervain or can they be harmed by all of them, because there is over 150 known species of vervain in the world.
I wanna try to wind down on these type of posts cause its been like 2 years or almost 2 years since legacies ended and all we've gotten since then for future projects is a bunch of maybes so I figure the interest is dying down more and more each year so it becomes less likely but nonethess if we do get another legacies or some sort of continuation I do think there is another major thing that needs to be added and maybe I said this before in the past and forgot but to add to the thin suspense I really think they being the writers should introduce the concept of soul erasure cause right now these constant afterlife dimensions-peace, hell, the other side, ancestral well, limbo, etc is protecting them and this can be a good and bad thing its good for our favorite characters so they can just be sent back to life but on the other hand for a storytelling perspective it isnt as exciting cause it makes death almost meaningless and im not saying I want the characters to die im just saying it makes the story more interesting and want to tune in more to see the outcome otherwise right now that possibility they could actually die as in no longer existing is a null and void concept although we could speculate certain characters perhaps did truly die cause we didnt see them in the afterlife but that is the most we can get from that otherwise everyone is pretty safe especially now that hell is gone what exactly happens to the villains they I guess spend an eternity trying to get coins to give to landon to pass on idk but even that I dont get how that works cause surely they will want to continue their evil ways onto peace, that is why I speculate landon erased the necromancer and sent him to peace as ted cause he knows necro would try to take over the world. But yeah those are my thoughts I do think that concept needs to be established cause the writers cant write in nature wont allow immortals to exist yet allows people to become spirits it dont make sense to me.
How am I able to view previous images of certain characters’ display pictures. For example, Bonnie’s current picture when you look her up is her in S8, how do I see the last profile picture she had?
This comment is late but I thought I'd ask if anyone is around here to see but what would you have all liked to see for certain characters who ended up in peace but we don't know how their relationships end up due to level of hatred between them
A few examples:
Klaus and mikael
Kai and his coven
Silas and qetsiyah
Katherine and Stefan/damon
So many others but those are some main examples and I figured not to put current characters who still live cause who knows if they will end up there except for delena cause of the flash forward in tvd finale. But basically would you have liked to see the feuds continue, the characters make amends or leave it neutral?
On a sidenote Im assuming the characters who died evil went to peace cause if they were in limbo we certainly didn't see them, we don't know if cades hell or malivore dimension still exists(like pieces of them) for them to be sent to or If their souls faded away into nothing(if such a thing is possible in tvdverse)
