I just purchased my first Volk doll and wanted your opinion

Hi! My name is Kristy Star Sisk. I just purchased my first Volk doll and I know basically nothing about them. I Do know I like the dolls better than Irvin dolls which I agree with most people that the dolls are really not that good. Most Irvin dolls I looked at I just do not consider them to be that good. The doll that I have purchased is a 8 inch Sailor Saturn doll. I paid $135 for her. I consider it to be worth it because she just seems more real than the other Sailor Saturn dolls I have seen. I am a Sailor Moon fan and like I said on my interests and bio Sailor Moon is one of the things that I collect. Most of the dolls I have are Irvin because normally I just can't afford anything better. But I did spend some money on my first doll but still Sailor Saturn is my favorite all time character. I thought it would be worth the trouble. An Irvin would have been $100 but it is just not very well made.

So I was wondering if I could talk to some people who know a lot more about Volk dolls than I do. And if you ever heard of anyone purchasing a Sailor Saturn Volk doll and If I got a good deal or a bad deal involving it. I am happy with it but I hate spending money on something that isn't considered to be worth that much amount. But this doll really does look more like her than any other doll that I have seen which is why I purchased it.

Her limbs move which I'm not use to that. Most of the dolls that I have their arms and legs do not move. I don't know if I care for that or not because of the way it looks. I'm not use to having my dolls move. She is the only one who can move. Her elbows, her kneecaps, her arms, her legs, her waist. Is that common for a Volk doll? The doll being able to move?

I was just wondering more about Volk dolls. Would someone tell me more about them?

I'm Super Dollfie fan and owner! Got 2 Volks dolls (and 3rd on the way :D ). And some other companies :)
I'm also a designer and seamstress, so I sew and sell outfits for dollfies. I also take commissions, samples of my outfits can be seen in my LJ ^^

Along with the 10th Anniversary, Volks will be selling a little Komame kitty in Japan. Hopefully there will be enough for overseas customers also.

Still waiting on news as to where and when the USA Dolpa will be held. I know they have been working very hard to decide where would be a good place and time. I think there may be some suprises in store.

Lastly, it appears the Standard Super Dollfies will be receiving updated face-ups for dolls sold in the future.

Also, looks like the lucky people who are getting Yo Dollfies from the New York Dolpa also have a chance to buy sets of the extra hands that were previously sold for Yo Dollfies.

Volks is also making an apperance at the Wonder Festival in Tokyo this weekend. Looks like they have some amazing figures being offered for the event.

That this journal was created as a place to share news and information about the company Volks and their creations.
This was done because there wasn't a community on Live Journal that was just for Volks.

If you have questions about what is okay to post here, you can find it on the information page.
There are other communities on Live Journal for Asian Ball Jointed Dolls, and also websites and message boards. In fact, for selling and buying, the message boards for Den of Angels, Resinalilty and Den of Demons are all very active places if you wish to sell or buy dolls. This community here on Live Journal was not set-up to be a selling/buying community.

As word has gotten out, there is a new SD13 boy Eden who is part of "The Maiden's Promise" group, which includes Liz, Emma and Christal.
A Sweet Dreams MSD Yui dressed in h.Naoto.
New SDC boy Ryu and Yo SD versions of Kun and Ryo.

Also two new versions of Rei and Asuka Dollfie Dream. These are characters from Neon Genesis Evangelion. There will be a school outfit available. In the past these dolls were only available in Japan due to licensing, but perhaps now that more has become available at least in the US, they might show-up on the US website later. We shall have to see.

Thanks for posting regular updates on VOLKS' activities as well!

My name is Bruce, and I've had the great privilege of being one of Pat's FDQ volunteers at the NYC Dolpa the last two years. From the moment I read of Sarah's visit to Dolpa Nagoya and Tenshi no Sato, courtesy of the Make-A-Wish foundation, I've loved the soul and people of VOLKS. From the moment I opened the box of my very first VOLKS doll, the SD13 Link in my profile photo, I've loved their dolls as well. Since that day, a Masha named Victoria, an Olivia named Phoenix and a precious Yo-Tenshi Mamu named Sarah-Satomi have joined Kisho-Ryuu and I. My wife's collection of tiny, chibi and mini BJDs includes a Yo-SD Kuuta who goes by the name of Spike.

They do tend to spoil me for other BJDs . . .

Dolpa 19 Afterparty

Volks has a new version of Olivia Morgan SD16 Super Dollfie. Her outfit is cute but what caught my eye was the text with her. How fun they are continuing the Tokyo Boys story, even in an off-hand way.

In other news, it looks like Volks is starting to gather information or look for instructors, at least in Japan, for to new classes for collectors. It appears they want to start these classes in March of next year. Perhaps this is part of the their Dollfie University?

Well, according to a post on Den of Angels by FDQ writer AM, Pat from FDQ states there are still a few Irvin's available, and to e-mail her at fdqmag@mac.com.

Also there is clarification about what will happen with the dolls if they are found. It sounds like they would be sold and the proceeds from the sales would go to Make a Wish.

Pat also stated there would be at least two more New York Dolpas in the coming years.

Volks Super Dollfie doll part exchange?

Received more information regarding the Volks Super Dollife part exchange. It was updated to add the larger doll sizes. It is the basic rates to exchange damaged parts if a doll owner needs to do so.

No new information regarding the missing dolls from the Volks New York Dolpa. There were three dolls not stolen. It appears they were locked in another room. There are lots of rumors and mis-information going around so unless something comes from an official source, it is best to wait. Also, I feel for anyone who has a similar doll and attempts to sell it at this time. I would suggest anyone doing that to show a photograph of the head plate to make it easier for themselves.

Thank you to those who have joined this little community. I hope you get something out of this. Please feel comfortable to post photos and information about your Volks dolls and figures.

Just an update

To note, there were seven display dolls missing from the Volks NY Dolpa. It appears at some point during the night or early morning the dolls may have been moved by security or cleaning people. It is possible they have just been misplaced. We are all hoping the dolls show-up and everything is fine. Photographs of the dolls missing can be found on the link in the previous post.

And as I said, I would post at least one photograph of my dolls. So here is my Volks SD13 Suigintou.

Nice photo of a lovely doll from the New York Dolpa...looks like one of the SD16 girls, maybe Amelia? What do you think?

Also very cool is the fact that people there will get one of the Volks Rally stamps for attending. And that one lucky person who gets one of those bracelets from FDQ will win a free Irwin doll. He is the tan elf doll that is the special doll for sale for FDQ subscribers. Hope someone who really wants him will win!
