Make a Unique Lamp Using Your Favourite Liquor Bottle or Vase!

With this kit, making a bottle lamp will take just a couple of minutes! Bottles or vases can be painted or etched, or if you're using a keepsake bottle from a special occasion (or just a brand of whiskey or bourbon that you love) you can keep the label on. From start to finish, it will take you 5 minutes. Also, no drilling is necessary so you don't have to worry about breaking any glass in the process!

How To Turn Your Bottle or Vase Into a Lamp

Step One

First, choose the rubber adapter that fits best in the neck of your bottle or vase. If the fit is not tight, you can later use super glue or hot glue to secure it properly. Next, screw your chosen adapter onto the steel threaded pipe, followed by the washer, exposing 1/4" of the nipple.

Step Two

Add the check ring (the disc which will cover the top of the bottle) on top of the washer.

Step Three

Loosen the set screw on the socket and screw it onto the 1/4" of the exposed nipple.

Step Four

Place the socket into the opening of the bottle, using the rubber adaptor to create a tight fit. Here is where you can add some super glue, or hot glue to provide additional strength. Push the assembly down until only the socket cap is left showing.

    I purchased this kit to revive several vintage, stoneware bourbon jug lamps my dad put together many years ago. We did not drill the jugs. Using the prewired socket makes this really easy. The directions are simple to read, primarily pictures. I had a couple of lamps that were 3-way but I changed them to the single switch that toggles back and forth. It was easy to add the base for a new harp. I'm using them with regular LED bulbs. If you don't want the cord to go through the bottle and come out at the bottom, this is the way to go.

    I made a milk bottle lamp and was planning on drilling a hole into the bottle so as to use a traditional lamp wiring, but this kit has the wire coming off the side so I do need to make the hole (and potentially crack the bottle). I used a cork (instead of the rubber stoppers that were more for wine/soda bottles than milk) that I had drilled into and the lamp came out great!

The only thing I'd suggest is a way to drill a hole in the bottle to feed the cord through instead of having it outside the bottle. But I just taped the cord to the bottle back and no one can see it.     Very quick delivery! We made lamps for the kids out of a big, glass storage jars to display their prized possessions. It was very easy to do and looks great and unique. If you notice, the cord comes out of the side of the socket, not the bottom threading through like typical lamps, so we could use a closed container as a base! The former complete kits we ordered had switches that turned to go on. My son's stopped turning so the lamp wouldn't work. We ordered this part, loving that it is a push switch to avoid the same problem again. Went in easily and our son has a reading light by his bed again within days!

What’s included in this kit - Brass-plated pre-wired bottle kit - Pre-assembled and wired, UL-Listed socket - Brass-plated off/on socket with side hole - 3 rubber adapters: 1", 3/4" and 5/8" - 8' (feet) brown cord - Steel nipple - Check ring and knurl nut - 3/8" threaded bottom hole with set screw that works with 1/8 IPS pipe - Illustrated instructions to guide you through the process How it works This kit enables you to turn most bottles into an electric lamp. The rubber adapters make it easy to insert the electrical socket into the neck of any sized bottle, and the pre-assembled socket has a side exit hole, allowing the lamp cord to exit from the socket itself.
