Unbecoming: The narcissist in your head illustrates, first the inappropriate and harmful impact the misunderstanding of a trait and a need to label it "good" or "bad" has on our mental health and society, second, how unhealed trauma manifests as narcissism, and how narcissism evolves into generational trauma. Understand how survival traits such as hypervigilance, co-dependency and people pleasing all fall on that narcissism spectrum and finally understand that our humanity is nothing to be ashamed of. We can't heal ourselves until we love ourselves. We can't love ourselves until we accept all parts of ourselves, the good, bad and the "ugly".

From page 2, “So let’s get this out of the way, shall we? Narcissism is an excessive interest in yourself or your appearance. That’s it. Do you know who that sounds like? Everyone.” A perfect read for anyone looking to be brutally honest with themself. A genuine look into and rationalization for the narcissistic characteristics that we all possess.

Not the most medical or scientific read, but it offers unique perspectives that are worth considering, even with a grain of salt at times

If I could give this book 10 stars I would. I struggle to remain interested in books at times because I'm telling the author in my head, "get to the point!" Every morsel of this book is intriguing and thought provoking. I connected so many dots throughout this book and continue to have epiphanies. The way the author strings together the all too familiar story of trauma, it's consequences on our beliefs and behavior, and how it manifests as narcissism is profoundly on point. I feel like this book awakened something in me and left me feeling empowered. I highly recommend. It is a quick read with no fillers or fluff, all pure gold.

This book gets right at the crux of the illusions in your life. An easy read with thought provoking ideas. Not so much enlightening as it is illuminating. Loved it and can't wait for the next edition.

It made me uncomfortable but in a good way. I wouldn't recommend it if you're not ready to take a deep look at yourself.

Yeah, so the author doesn't actually seem to know what a narcissist is. Don't waste your money when you could read something written by a professional.
