Robert Costin is a British organist, harpsichordist and music educator who has performed widely across Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. His recordings, particularly of the keyboard music of J.S. Bach, have received international critical acclaim in publications including Gramophone, The Independent, Choir & Organ, BBC Music Magazine, American Record Guide and Fanfare.
A former chorister of Peterborough Cathedral, Robert Costin studied at Oundle School, the Royal Academy of Music and Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he was Organ Scholar. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists at the age of nineteen and was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2025 in recognition of his services to music.
His Bach recordings include the Goldberg Variations BWV 988, the 6 Organ Trio Sonatas BWV 525-530, the complete Well-Tempered Clavier BWV 846-869+BWV 870-893 and, most recently, Die Kunst der Fuge BWV 1080, recorded on the Metzler organ of Trinity College Chapel, Cambridge. The Art of Fugue received a five-star review in Choir & Organ and was described as highly recommended by American Record Guide.
Alongside his performing and recording career, Robert Costin has held cathedral and school music appointments in the United Kingdom and overseas. He is currently Head of Visual and Performing Arts at Saint Marys School in Raleigh, North Carolina. |
