There are some fixtures that probably do not need any extra encouragement to become entertaining.

Cowdenbeath FC v Celtic B at Central Park might just be one of them.

Last week we were pleased to advise of the signing of David Hopkirk after he came through to Central Park to complete the paperwork. David confirmed that he was looking forward to getting started and hopefully enjoying a good season at Central Park.  However, after registration with the SFA was completed, David seemingly has had second thoughts and has advised us that he has decided to retire from football. We are naturally disappointed at this turn of events.Cowdenbeath FC’s Director of Football Operations, Colin Nelson, commented "To give clarity to our support, I wanted to confirm that even though we have signed and registered David Hopkirk, he intimated to me on Tuesday evening that he wants to step away from the game to retire and focus on family and work commitments. We will respect his decision.  Although disappointed and frustrated we move on. The club will strive to keep improving the Squad and the clubs position."

There is a real buzz around Central Park at the moment, and this Saturday gives us another chance to enjoy The Blue Brazil in cup action, with Cumbernauld Colts visiting in the Third Round of the South Region Challenge Cup.
