City Council

The Diamond Bar City Council is composed of five members elected by district but representing the city's interests as a whole. Terms are four years, with elections held in November of even-numbered years, and staggered on a two-year basis, with two members elected at one election and three at the next.

Newly elected council members assume their seats in December, after the election is certified. At that time, the council reorganizes and elects one of its members to serve as mayor and another as mayor pro tem, each for a one-year term.

The mayor serves as the presiding officer at City Council meetings, makes ad hoc committee assignments, and represents the City at official functions and public events. The mayor pro tem assumes the duties of the mayor in their absence.

The City Council sets policy, enacts legislation and adopts the budget under which the City operates. The City operates under a City Council/City Manager form of government.

Meetings

City Council meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the AQMD Auditorium, 21865 Copley Drive, Diamond Bar, CA 91765. Meetings are open to the public and can also be attended via live stream, or viewed on Spectrum Cable Channel 3, Frontier FiOS Channel 47 or the City's YouTube channel.

Agendas and Minutes

Agendas are posted at least 72 hours before each City Council meeting, and are available in electronic format on the City's website prior to the upcoming meeting. Minutes of each meeting are presented to the council for approval at the next regular meeting and posted on the website following approval.
