Hello there! I'm a fellow engineering student pursuing a B.Tech in Information and Communication Technology. Back in my 10th and 12th grades, I was just an ordinary student—not much of a "kitabi kida" (bookworm). I enjoyed mathematics, so I chose the science stream with an A group focus.
Everything was going well until the COVID-19 pandemic hit, which disrupted my plans and momentum. I had intended to prepare for the JEE Mains and then the Advanced exams, but the pandemic threw everything into disarray. I struggled to concentrate and couldn't focus on my studies. I even got addicted to playing PUBG, wasting most of my time on things that didn't matter in the long run.
When I finally took my first JEE Mains exam, I scored 90 percentile, which was disappointing. I hadn't followed any structured study plan. Around the same time, our board exams were canceled, leaving me unsure of what to do next. I couldn't focus on either JEE or the board exams, and it felt like a mess.
There was still one hope left: the GUJCET exam. I thought if I worked hard for it, I could salvage something from the situation. To be honest, I didn't even know about ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses) until a friend called me, just two weeks before the application deadline, and told me to register. I quickly gathered the necessary documents and registered just in time.
When the ACPC rank list was released, I was thrilled with my rank. If I hadn't registered, I would have had to wait another year for this opportunity. The next big task was selecting a college. Coming from a middle-class family, it was hard to choose between a private and a government college. But I believed in myself and chose a private college, even though I knew little about it. I had randomly searched for colleges and found one with the highest average package in Gujarat, which I hadn't known about before.
From all the chaos, I secured admission to a really good college. This journey taught me the importance of having a mentor (which I didn't have) to guide you, and the value of self-belief. My mom always says, "Never forget where you came from." I hope sharing my experience helps you find your passion and motivates you on your path. Wishing you all the best!
