Cohesity Interview Experience for Site Reliability Engineer role On-Campus(2024)

Last Updated : 9 Oct, 2024

In this post I shall be sharing my placement experience at Cohesity India for the SRE role. About 250 students had registered and the whole process was finished in a single day. The process took place on 30th September 2024.

Role: Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Role Offered: Yes

Role Type: Only Full Time

Total Number of Candidates selected : 4

Round 1 (Online Assessment) :

  • Questions were mainly from OS, CN, Linux and Cloud. There were also a few Aptitude questions in the mix.
  • The platform used was Codesignal.
  • The test consisted of 45 MCQs in 30 minutes so speed was very crucial along with accuracy but there was no negative marking

Round 2 (Technical Round 1) :

  • A total of 25 people were selected for the next round and it was face to face interviews.
  • There were no DSA questions asked in this round as it was for an SRE role.
  • There were questions about file systems like which file system is used in Windows, Linux, etc.
  • A few questions were also asked about OS and CN like the OSI model, etc.
  • The questions were quite easy but it tested your fundamentals so better to revise your core concepts once before entering the interview.

Round 3 (Technical Round 2) :

  • A few people were let go after the first round but not sure of the number.
  • The same concepts as listed above were tested in this round as well.
  • Fundamental questions on core concepts like DHCP and hardware troubleshooting using Linux commands were tested in this round which could only be answered by having a clear understanding of the concepts.
  • Questions were asked about my system like what configuration it has and stuff like that so be ready to answer such questions.

Round 4 (HR Round) :

  • This was a small behavioral round, consisting of scenario-based questions like, "What would you do if you had a bad manager?" These questions were aimed at checking how you would respond to certain situations in a corporate environment.
  • My advice for this round is do not search up any top 50 HR round questions online and go in instead just try to be super honest with your answers and they will definitely be impressed.
  • There will obviously be no technical questions asked in this round but there can be a few exceptions sometimes so beware.
  • This round was just about testing who you are as a person so try to potray yourself nicely as this can be a make or break decision for hiring you. This round went on for about 30 minutes.

Conclusion:

Overall I would say this was one of the best interviews I had ever sat for considering the enthusiasm from the interviewers and the kind of questions they had asked were right in line with what was to be expected for an SRE role interview. The interviewers were all highly experienced SREs who have been working Cohesity for a very long time and have a deep understanding of what the role actually is so they could test me and the other candidates to the perfect extent.
